2nd to worst case scenario (worst being not making the playoffs):
Detroit continues to lose, Chicago passes them for 5th place, we win the division and draw the Wings in round 1. It's a small in the realm of possibility, but it's still there. Most likely that the Wings stay in 4th or 5th.
Making the playoffs once again out of the Yotes control, both Calgary and Los Angeles can pass by based on games in hand and we don't play them again this year.
If we can start playing the way the coach wants we will make it in.
no nhl game is easy but we play 4 teams that are out of the playoffs as well four crucial games with colorado, dallas and san jose 2x.
we play st.louis twice so we needs points out of pretty much every other game now
Exactly, we still have a chance to get in. Team needs to regroup, and buy back into the Tippett play. Smart, disciplined defensive hockey.
All of our games are against the Western Conference. And remember, the other teams are playing each other too.
Calgary plays Colorado twice and Dallas twice.
Colorado plays the Rangers, Calgary twice, Vancouver twice, and the Sharks.
Dallas plays Flames twice, Sharks twice, Canuck, Predators, and Blues.
Kings play Sharks 3 times, Predators, Blues, Bruins, Flames 1 time.
You get the picture. We are still very much in it, as these teams are going to be trading points. We just have to take care of business on our end and I think we will be just fine. The problem is, we are in a rut. We need to get out of it fast.

The boys definitely need to play more responsibly and I believe we will make it in.... hell, I've still got hopes for first in the division and third in the conference.
Having Vrbata and Hanzal out for the last game tilted it in Calgary's favor. I'm thinking the turnovers my be a result of trying to "step up" and try to make plays, because that's what is "expected." That could lead to trying too hard, taking unneeded chances and resulting in things going the wrong way. The sky isn't falling...yet. A 2 game winning streak gets us back in 3rd. (Chicago will beat Dallas tonight)
Maybe this ridiculous performance is a blessing in disguise: the team has been unable to get going in most first periods of most recent games, and it was taken to another level last night with the early goal. Now this squad is well managed by Tippett, has strong leaders so I really can't see why they can't re-focus after such a debacle. The whole point here is to re-set over the next two days, realise again why everybody worked so hard to get within reach of the playoffs and go after the next 10, 15, 20 games. It is all very much in their hands at this point, I hope they all went fishing today to clear their minds and rest their bodies. If you are capable to take the canucks in their home like they did two days ago, you are allowed to think big, particularly as they have proven they can take on anybody, except for the blue jackets....
First period against the oilers is going to tell us a lot, but I am confident. Why can't this spring give us the two things that will settle this franchise for good: a new owner and go over the first round of the playoffs...
I expect San Jose to pick it up and take the division title again.
I doubt it very much as what we are seeing with that team now is their window of winning a cup is closing in on them fast along with years moves by Doug Wilson and the salary cap finally catching up with the Sharks. If the Coyotes can stay in the division hunt the 2 games SJ plays vs Dallas could help us alot in a divison where its showing more than likely only the division winner in the Pacific will get into the playoffs.
Chicago has put up 2 on Dallas in the first few minutes of that game so far. Maybe the curse that hit the Yotes after their run in february has hit Dallas after their recent run.
Calgary loses in regulation and The Ducks have it to within 1. Edmonton's Taylor Hall got hurt. Not sure what his status will be for Sunday. Sucks for my fantasy team. though.
