Yep. Only one or two of us are going to have a huge run and sneak in. We have to be one of them. Its going to be really hard. We will have to be awesome in the next 25 games. Pretty good won't cut it. We have to be excellent.

To get to 95 points we'd have to go 16-9 for the rest of the season. Looking at the schedule we happen to have 16 games against teams that are on the bubble or out of the playoffs (Kings or worse in the standings) and 9 games against teams solidly in the playoffs (Predators or higher). So 16-9 should be a possible.

Agreed. Especially with resting Smith last night. He has 4 days off, which means, hopefully, he goes into these next 5 games with the same mentality he did after the Ducks game. Get another 5 wins in a row/NHL player of the week and then rest him for the next Couver game and repeat.
Just a thought.

It's going to be a wild race for the last 4 playoff spots because right now there are at least 7 teams fighting for those spots. In terms of parity it would suggest a lower point total for teams to make the playoffs and given that we seem to have a lot of parity in the middle of the standings I'm going with 92-94 to clinch a playoff spot at this point.

My main concerns are colorado and anaheim. i think 92-94 will be enough to get in with how even everyone is. as long as there arebnt a ton of three point games i think we will be ok

I really can't imagine Anaheim making it at this point. I can see them taking a lot of games away from teams that are looking for a spot however. I'll forget about Colorado one week, and then be worried about them the next. Also, unless Minnesota turns around very soon I believe they will be out of the race. So my main concerns are Av's, Stars, and Flames. Of course Chicago could fall out of the race as well.

The Ducks are just too far behind. Stars and Flames are the most worrisome; I think they're better than the standings suggest. Colorado and Minnesota could still make it, but somehow it seems less likely. Chicago will pull out of their tailspin one way or the other. Catching LA isn't out of the question.

So I went through each teams schedule and totaled the number of games each team has against other teams based on points% and separated them into games against teams in the top 10 P%, middle ten P% and bottom ten P%:

Chicago
vs top - 14
vs mid - 9
vs bot - 3

Los Angeles
vs top - 11
vs mid - 8
vs bot - 6

Phoenix
vs top - 9
vs mid - 9
vs bot - 7

Calgary
vs top - 5
vs mid - 12
vs bot - 9

Colorado
vs top - 10
vs mid - 6
vs bot - 9

Dallas
vs top - 12
vs mid - 10
vs bot - 5

Minnesota
vs top - 7
vs mid - 13
vs bot - 7

Anaheim
vs top - 10
vs mid - 9
vs bot - 8

Dallas losing to Detroit, Minnesota up on Anaheim, Chicago and Nashville tied. Toronto and Calgary just started. Biggest game is the Dallas game I feel, but I want Dallas/Minnesota/Chicago/Calgary to all lose. Anaheim is too far out to worry about IMO.

Nice work Sceva - definitely a highlight that we have what I would call a favorable schedule - the good thing is that all of those middle/bottom teams by P% are teams like Chicago and Dallas that are falling off a little bit. Some other team is going to have the wheels fall off, and I hope it is not us...

Stars lose in regulation to the Red Wings. GREAT
Wild lose to Ducks in regulation. GREAT AGAIN
Chicago and Nasville tied 2-2. LAME
Calgary up 2-1 on Toronto. SUPER LAME

So far, 2 good wins tonight for us. Hopefully the other 2 games come around for us.

Chicago and Los Angeles, both above us, have some hard games remaining. That's good for us if we want to move up in the standings. Ours looks to be middle of the road, not an easy finish, but it could be a lot worse. Dallas looks like they are going to have a tough time getting into the playoffs period, with where they sit now, and their remaining schedule based on your findings. Anaheim is all but eliminated.

There is still so much hockey left though, can't really slack at all. But I do like our chances to get there, especially where we have put ourselves with that 5 game win streak. But the hot streak can't last forever, I just hope we play well enough to get there!

Blackhawks lose to the Predators in regulation. Thank you Nashville!

Hopefully the Leafs can come back against the Flames. But so far a great night for our position right now in the standings.

All games are good tonight except Toronto. Hopefully the flames will slip in the 3rd and either loose or tie

Until it's the last couple weeks of the season I basically don't pay any attention to what other teams are doing, just what the Yotes need to do. Anyone else the same way?

Seems like a lot of people are hanging on every move of the rivals for #7-8. But then again I guess it's better than talking about 2 weeks and faux ownership news.

Quite a bit. I have been off since Saturday with a bad cold/flu. I guess I'm not totally used to the weather yet.

I just get generally stoked to follow everything around this time of the season. Also, I'm trying to focus just on taking the Pacific title...it's a stretch but not impossible.

5 points behind and they play each other 3 more times.
The next 6 games are crucial if the Coyotes plan to catch up to the Sharks...

I'm not counting the Ducks out just yet, they're too good. Hopefully the Pens will hang on to the two points tonight.

Yes it is, the avatar thread from the other day inspired me to change my avatar and I instantly thought about the picture from this article.
