I don't think Lombardi or Sutter are going to still be in LA after this season. I don't think getting Rick Nash would change much. I'm not sure getting Stamkos would change much. The problem seems systematic. I think Sutter was the wrong choice. I also think that the Kings need some more role players.

Nash would be a perfect character in the team, in many ways. But he is also a player of extreme value. As far as I know Nash is having a similar deal as Doan has.
To compare when Olli Jokinen was traded to us, he was rated high, but Nash is something else. I hardly see Jackets willing trading him, but if(!) what would our match be?

This week's schedule is good for us concerning Chicago and LA as long as we keep winning.. The Sharks play 5 times in 8 days. They'll only have a game in hand after next Sunday.

Coyotes - LA, at Calgary, at Edmonton

Chicago - St Louis, Detroit, Dallas, at LA, at Anaheim

Calgary - Edmonton, Phoenix, Philadelphia

LA - at Phoenix, at Colorado, Chicago

Looks like Calgary has the easiest week to me. If our injuries don't heal quickly we could have a tough time. I'd like us to at least win 2 (1 against Calgary) and hopefully the others will beat down on each other. Maybe we can get some separation from 9th place.

Great 1st periods for us. Blues up on the Hawks, and Death Eaters up on the Sharks.

Would be great if both Sharks and Blackhawks lose today. Sharks playing 5 road games I can see us taking the 3rd seed from them soon.

Blackhawks win in regulation. Damnit!

Death Eaters take one in regulation against the Sharks, that's a great thing.

Blackhawks have to play the Death Eaters on Tuesday next, will be a tough matchup for them.

Biggest thing about the Sharks loss is that the Yotes can now control their own destiny in winning the division.

San Jose and Chicago have extra gears and have proven they can step it up in the past Fingers crossed though.

Would love to know what Maloney is thinking as we approach the deadline.

I hope he is thinking trade Gormley or OEL for Hall. Sorry, but we need a scorer in the worst way and can afford to give up an all star defenseman for an all star forward.

No way in hell they'd take Gormley for Hall and what makes you think Hall is a Tippet kind of player?

Big slate of games today. Coyotes just need to take care of themselves tonight and we stay in position ahead of most everyone else.

Thank you Blue Jackets for taking it to the Sharks.

Thought we were due for a stinker but the boys fought and turned the stinker into a win. This is so much more fun than those late Dec early Jan games.

Got a little cocky with the thread title. This team keeps on rolling. A solid ROW ahead of those below us. I'm just thankful we got even 1 point out of the Kings game tonight. We have gotten points in how many straight games now? I have lost track we have been playing so well. What was it, 5 straight wins, then the Vancouver SO loss, now 3 straight wins? I guess that means 9? Pretty solid, and we have gained a little gap, but no time to slow down now!

Well it looks now in the last 10 games we are 9-0-1. Two weeks ago we were in 12th seed I believe and now tied for 3rd seed with Sharks. Amazing to play so well and we're the best team after the all-star break. On our 9-0-1 streak we have beaten a ton of great teams ahead of us. La Kings(twice), Red wings, Canucks, Sharks, Blackhawks, Stars and a few more I can't remember.

First game back from the ASG we lost to Anaheim in regulation.

We are 8-1-1 since the ASG.

I love how the boys are playing right now. They have to be feeling confident and they should. I hope the team stays healthy and we pick up a forward like boyes to help the PP.

I think we have a shot at the division and it would be huge to avoid Detroit and Vancouver in the first round

As much as the discussion of Phoenix winning the Pacific Division is cute I still think the fact that we are even in discussion on making the playoffs is a borderline miracle. Tippett is truly amazing.

Well, I think the biggest question mark was goaltending heading into the season. Mike Smith has stepped up to the plate, and has beaten all expectations. I can't imagine anyone thinking he would have done this well.

Most predictions I saw before the season were us missing the playoffs.

Tippet has really nailed home a mentality on this team that is working.

Shark Hunting

Quote:
NHL history was made last season as the California-based teams — the San Jose Sharks, L.A. Kings and Anaheim Ducks — all made the playoffs. It was the first time the three qualified for the postseason in the same year and, given how strongly they finished (each had at least 46 wins and 98 points), it looked like the start of a compelling three-way postseason rivalry.

But now, less than a year later, things couldn’t be more different.

It’s unlikely that none of the California teams will make the playoffs this year, but the possibility is there. If Phoenix overtakes top spot in the Pacific, the Sharks (69 points) would find themselves in the mix for spots seven and eight with L.A. (66), Calgary (65), Dallas (64) and Colorado (62). Anaheim (60) has been hot of late but still has plenty of ground to make up and teams to leapfrog, including the Minnesota Wild (61).

If he didn't lose like 3 times to Ducks, Blue Jackets, Carolina and a few other weak teams we'd have around 77 points right now. Plus we lost 13+ games by one goal this season. Add all that up and we can easily have 80-82 points

We could just as easily lost some of the games we won though those two losses to Dallas early in the season are still painful
