Do You Believe Brown Deserves To Be Captain?

The question is not if there is a more qualified captain on our team.

This Poll question is just as simple as if Brown deserves to be one.

EDIT: If you believe yes or no, please tell us why. Thanks.

I welcome threads like these; cause every year it gets asked. Then Brown has one of his streak months like he does every year. Pots about 8 to 9 goals hits everything in sight, then everyone goes back to normal.

First of all it doesn't matter what we think to be honest. LA has never displayed any doubt Brown should be Captain. We do not have ANY INSIGHT into what is said behind closed doors. For all we know Brown could be the biggest pansy or hardest guy in the Room.

Brown is what he is. A streaky Forward that hits people. A great guy in the community Players love him; Coaches Love him, Management loves him. What Else do you want ? You want Crosby like ? Look else where, Brown is not that.

I am not sure that's what makes a captain...

I think he is. There has been nothing said in public by anybody on the team that would undermine or doubt his leadership ability. That's all we can ask for...

Technically, all the captain really is is the guy the ref goes to first to talk to about calls. A letter on your jersey doesn't determine your role as a leader. Those who are natural leaders will stand up and be that, regardless.

To answer the question - sure, he's a hard worker and active in the community. Serves as an example of how to be a professional.

Plays hard and gives consistent effort throughout every game. Locker room loves him, and he has been one of our most consistent goal scorers throughout the years. Plays in all situations just like Kopitar, and is an icon amongst the LA community and a leader in charity. Always sets the right example, can draw penalties at will typically from his enormous effort and ability to play/power through and keep skating. Solid first line forward for us, who shows up when it counts.

I have no knowledge of what goes on in the locker room.

I think DB is a good teammate, good winger, and a great guy in the community, etc etc etc.

I don't think he's a good captain. He's not vocal. Which is not a necessity to be a good leader. There are "quiet leaders" like Lidstrom, Datsyuk, etc. But they lead by example. DB doesn't do that.

Again, great guy. Good hockey player. Bad leader.

Brown played two seasons without the C. Both of those were his worst stats wise.

He has been the most consistant player (Besides Kopitar) Since being givin the C.

I'd start a poll asking why the LA Kings fanbase is so Ummm let's see ... what's the word that won't get me an Infraction ? Ummmm ... anyways ... then I see the results of the poll and remember it only takes a few or maybe even ONE to make so many look SO BAD.

Hahaha...

I am sure he is a great guy! I don't hate him at all. I agree with Capo Brown. His game has regressed ever since he was handed the "C." Though he scores 20 goals each season his impact during games especially the last 2 years has been awful IMO since that captaincy.

Before being captain his play was developing really good as a power forward. Then kaboom!

But I would like to see the "C" off Dustin.

I am sure 90% of you don't want to hear it. But what you can't deny is the fact that since he was a "captain" he has never been the same player he was....

Either the pressure is too much or he thinks too much out there. Or both.

So in what ways is he not the same player?

Ok

Brown's first Three seasons without the C, were his worst Stats wise. What Brown are you guys talking about ?

Brown has matched his Hit totals every year he has been in a Kings jersey. He was one of the worst minus players on the team his first three years without the C.

He didn't even reach 20 goals. AGAIN WHAT BROWN ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.

Brown had one season were he hit 33 goals and 60 points. Since he has been pretty damn consistant (for a streaky player like him).

Took a discount contract to help the team.

One of the most charitable NHL players in the entire league.

Doesn't throw players under the bus, accepts responsibility.

Around the top of the league in hits every year.

Willing to sacrifice his body, go to the front of the net etc.

What else did you want, exactly? He's done everything he can to deserve the respect of his teammates as far as I'm concerned.

Unless you think the C is awarded to your best goal scorer or something.

Then what is it about ? You don't like him ? How about adding to the discussion (in the thread you freakin started). I provided actually stats to prove he is pretty much the same guy people are saying he is not.
