Right. Good, younger players in. Bad, older players out.

Elias is still around despite not wanting to be captain and even being stripped of the title. I think White was shipped out because he's one dimensional and the buyout was pennies.

I still remember him giving little effort on a penalty kill in the playoffs against the Flyers and showing little-to-no-effort that entire series. It's too soon to forgive that in my book so If i were at the arena tonight I wouldnt do anything. No booing and I certainly wouldnt cheer him.

Comparing Rolston, and Langenbrunner in 2010-2011 to Kovalchuk in 2010/2011 is awful. Not even, because they're old, but just look at it. Patrik Elias is an older player now, and Rolston, and Langenbrunner don't deserve to be compared to him in present time. Sykora is frickin better than those guys now, and comes at about 4 times less than the Langenbrunner, and 8 times less than the other guy.

Rolston most impressed me last season during the comeback. In those 3 years his second run here that was the best I thought he played. 09/10 he wasn't too bad. 08/09 he was injured for a bit. Maybe it was Lemaire. He didn't like Sutter, and Lemaire was his first ever NHL coach in Jersey back in the 90s the first time he was there, and all those years in Minnesota.

I think Rolston was the worst contract the Devils have ever given. At least in the salary cap era. Yeah I know someone woulda gave him more, but that was stupid. I saw bad things when I found out about that contract. The Devils have never given a guy that old that long or much of a contract except for Stevens, and Marty.

I hate saying this, because I like both guys I really do. I am still trying to get over the Rolston thing. I feel bad for the Isles getting dumped with him.

I think I've gotten over the issue with Langenbrunner. He did whine and ***** and moan and play poorly towards the end of his stay in NJ, but he was a decent captain put in a ****** situation of trying to live up to the pressure of expecting to win the Cup every year when the team was dissolving around him (Stevens, Dano, Nieds, Rafalski, Gomez, Gionta all leaving in one way or another).

If I were at this game, I would clap for him to thank him for all the good he did for the team in the past. I went to a Ducks/Blues game here in Anaheim earlier this year and was excited to see Langs and Arnie.

Langenbrunner is just old. He came off his best season points wise or at least best Devils regular season for sure of 08/09, and hit bottom in 09/10. I think it's cause he's old, and he just can't play to that extent right now.

We've seen it with Brian Rolston this season, we've seen it with Dwayne Roloson. Roloson take him. It goes to show you how in 4 months you can go from being Conn Smythe Candidate to not looking 42, but looking 65.

Gomez I don't know what his problem is. He aint that old yet. Only like 32, so I don't know what his deal is.

Aside from Elias, and Marty of course Langenbrunner, and Colin White were the last of the Championship Devils on our team. Someone else mentioned this too. He saw a lot of people leave. His teammate from the beginning of his career Joe Nieuwendyk who followed him to Jersey. Daneyko, Stevens, Niedermayer, Gomez, Rafalski, Gionta, so he was one of the last of the great Championship teams.

Apparently yes accoring to NJDevs, and heavily with 'sucks' chants.

Cue the meme about us being classless fans despite cheering Gionta, Madden, Rafalski and White when they came back.

I couldn't hear any booing on the telecast, except during the shootout when everybody gets booed anyway.

I wouldn't have booed Langs at the same time I wouldn't have clapped.

Over by me, no one chanted "sucks" for him during the starting line-up. No one booed him, no one cheered him.

The only time he was booed was during the shootout, which everyone gets booed.

What this old gag about the team concept being upset by bringing in a player of Kovalchuk's ilk. From Jim's sources from within no less. If anything it shows how petty and caustic some Devils were during that time and how they decided to make it about them and cost a team playoff revenue and the fans a playoff run. If Kovalchuk was that big of a problem, why is nobody other than a lawyer that posts on HFboard on to this?

The team getting Havelid, Klee and players of that ilk aren't a problem to the egos of certain players or one player. But G-D forbid you get someone that is lateral or better, the apple cart gets upset. The Devils are no longer the Devils.

Whatever. I don't think any of Kovalchuk's remaining teammates have a problem with what he is doing here now, especially with the colossal effort he has made to fit into the team concept, and the way he appears to be succeeding at it so far.

My buddy back home says he was didn't seem like he was booed by the whole arena, but he heard a few boos around him. Though the arena wasn't filled with boos he said.
