Most everything medically related, they want you up and and about. It seems there has been a big change over the decades.

Yet it seems concussions, has taken the opposite approach. Many have speculated concussions were common in the past, but we so kindly referred to it as getting ones bell run. Undiagnosed, bell rung, minor concussion, major, it sure seems to me that players largely (somehow) played through them.

So what has changed... are concussions much more severe now, nausea dizziness, no way one could play through it? Or are players being halted from playing through it, inadvertently lengthening recovery time, by being "cautious"?

Based on the extended periods of time players are out for now, what doctors are doing doesn't seem to be working to me, yes an internet doctor. They seem to be recommending doing nothing, which is sure making for long ass recoveries. You dont have to jump back into hockey, but couch rest, if its not working, its not working.
ah...love it. Doc RH!!!!!

maybe i am not reading this correctly. you site that the medical community changed is protocols after surgery to get the person up on their feet and moving as a better recovery technique. that the same medical community has discovered the opposite is true for for concussion and changed the protocols there is rather than the same sort of step forward, but a step backward.

maybe the entire concussion thing is fake. made up by the medical community.

Let's win this in OT! Need Peg to get those loser points to climb vs Avs.

If we have to worry about Peg for playoffs, we're hosed anyway.

So no, it's not more than Washington got in return.
And the Jets bought an expiring contract to fill a roster space for a season at the cost of an ECHL player they'd deemed of no future use and a late pick. Paquette and a 4th can hardly be considered as much in the way of future NHL value, realistically. It was a simple cap dump to a team with free cap space; if you guys want to portray it as some sort of a win, well, whatever.

Fehr has 1 goal and makes $2 million dollars. I'm pretty sure he's got negative value at this point.

That is the point of buying an expiring contract, FYI. He was just filling a spot for a season.

Would love for Orlov to get reworded with a goal for sacrificing his beak. The guy has a mean shot. Needs to start using it more often.

Reminds me of Jurcina's blast. Lethal, yes; on target, no. Will say that Orlov's shot has much higher upside than Juice's.

I'm sure that's why the Winnipeg brass was parading him around during the off-season. He was even one of the players selected to unveil your jersies.

Random FB person trying to defend Knuble by saying 85 isn't producing. This amuses me. I'm hoping it's trolling.

jurcina's shot was not effective because he was both not mobile enough to get in position to shoot and too slow in his shooting in his shooting motion. those combined meant he was never in position to get his shot off.

orlov has the footwork and mobility and he a quick slap shot and other shooting skills beyond that.

he is not shooting and scoring even on the pp because he is a rookie. a north american game rookie. a professional rookie. an nhl rookie. add that to his coaches obvious stance on if in doubt, don't, you'd have to take from that he is being extra careful.

i dont worry about his shooting. it will come in time.

Predicable pointless spinning: concussions are fake. Really, is that headline grabber spin your input?

Ridicule me and give me your opinion on why concussions of the previous era that you proclaim where always there, and simply not diagnosed, the players playing through them, did not take upwards of a year to recover from. You can't. You won't. You will spin instead.

You obviously believe the couch is the cure. The Doc said lay there indefinitely. How long you would lay there before deciding, I am not getting better. What is the other alternative? Get up, right? Rocket science to you.

You are of the belief that doctors at any point in time are always right. We are all thrilled for you. Having lost a loved one to medical malpractice, I am not so quick to buy what they are selling.

"Um, stay on the couch" to me is a white flag, that the doctors don't know dick. You seem ready to spin it they found a cure.
