im going to get killed for this statement but if he keeps up this level of play for the rest of the season, i would rather trade johansen...
I knew people would start changing their mind on Brassard. Mt-svk called him a 3rd line center today . Some people hate him and want him gone but I think he is producing well this season and deserves another chance. As for Johansen, no way they'll trade him. Carter unfortunately will be the guy and he'll bring back a lot more than Johan anyways.

i'd rather have carter as #1, nash on 2nd line and brassard/johansen can fight over who gets to be the #2 and #3 center. it seems like they both tend to slack off once they don't have to fight for a spot.
Nikitin is out. Lebda is out. Martinek is out of the season. In Springfield, Holden is out for the season and Goloubef has been out for most of the season.
Howson made the mistake of hoping players would be ready (Savard & Holden), hoping players could stay healthy (Martinek) and hoping players could step up (Russell, Methot, Clitsome). But "hope" gets you jack squat in NHL.
Howson isn't blameless, but this clusterf'k of injuries was unforeseeable. A young defensive corps like this is going to have bad games. Unfortunately, the way defensemen in the NHL get better is playing, making mistakes and hopefully fixing them. And the fans have to suffer through it.
Do you guys think once after the deadline, Johansen will get a center spot full time? I'm thinking thats when they are going to let him take his time in learning the position. Not sure its a smart thing to do but...

Hard to say... with Carter and Brassard Johansen can play wing for awhile... assuming those guys stay.
Neither is burying young guys in the minors or the press box simply because they're not there yet. Players don't develop in a vacuum. They need ice time at the highest level.
Wasn't that the complaint with Filatov? He couldn't crack the top two lines, so he was getting too little playing time to develop as an NHL player. Three different head coaches would rather double-shift a veteran who may or may not have been better, even if it meant that a developing player who needed it wasn't getting any ice time.
Probably has a lot to do with him being a teenage rookie...
No, it has to do with this organization over hyping him because he was a 1st round pick (shocker, this org has never done that before! ). Would be interesting to pull up the Johansen expectations thread again

If you are talking about Johansen getting scratched 4 times in a row I've read others and think it's a trade deadline thing.. he's not on the block, perhaps others need ice time to be show cased..? Just a thought.

Well, my post (which you replied to) was in response to one that basically dismissed the idea that there was a plan that involved at least one or two of the younger guys stepping up, so that the fallout from injuries or ineffectiveness would be diminished. I was attempting to refute that.
Ok, if ya all want to understand the problems in Columbus, the Jackets are at home, down only one goal and I see little desire to even this thing up...
think about it.. who is going to net more in a trade involving that coveted #1 dman? out of all our centers given each players situation i honestly think he has the most value, you have to give to get.
we havent even seen him play center yet for an extended period of time.. if were grooming him into a winger then i would leave him untouchable but if hes going to be a center then he has to show some promise at the position (i know hes a teenage rookie)

You know, the difference between John Moore last year and this year is night and day.
Its amazing.
Savard too. Even though he wasnt up last year but from earlier this year. The guy controls games in the AHL and hes bringing that calmness to Columbus.
