Plekanec scores in OT (On his 8th shot in the game), Dogs win 3-2. Ward gets the assist.

Did Plekanec end it? According to theahl.com there's an unofficial final score of 3-2 in OT.

Won't matter...Pleks from Ward in OT!

Danis now has 3 wins and an OT loss in 4 games. 7 goals allowed by my count.

He's our #1. And Jarvis agrees as he has given him 4 starts out of 6.

Plekanec with the winning goal in OT.

The lone assist goes to Jason Ward!

Locke with 5 pts in 5 games, Pleks with double the amount of goals then anyone on the team with 4, Kostitsyn/Locke with 2. On the other hand, Higgins and Milroy with 2 pts each, and Ott is pointless in 6 games. Hopefully they pick it up, I'm sure they will.

Pleks leads the team with 23 shots, Higgins with 15. Jancevski leads the team with a +4, Milroy with a -4. Ivanans leads in pims with 52

Danis with a 1.73 gaa and a .939 save %.

They will have Komisarek and Cote, leaving Shasby and Archer the odd men out I would assume.

Here you go boys and girls!

Plekanec scores winner in overtime as Bulldogs beat Road Runners 3-2

posted October 24 @ 20:41, EST

HAMILTON, Ont. (CP) - It made sense that the hottest player on the Hamilton Bulldogs roster had a hand in the outcome of yet another tight game with the Edmonton Road Runners.

Tomas Plekanec scored his fourth goal in three nights, the latest at 2:56 of overtime Sunday, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 win over Edmonton in the American Hockey League. It was the third one-goal game between the two rivals already this season.

With the puck sitting in the crease following a scramble in front of Tyler Moss, Plekanec tucked the winner home, snapping a two-game losing streak for the Bulldogs.

"It was lucky," Plekanec said of the winner. "I heard the fans yelling when I stopped in front of the net."

Plekanec's goal in Binghamton Saturday night earned his team a point. He also buried two in a 5-3 loss to Philadelphia on Friday.

"I'm trying to put a few shots on the net," said Plekanec, a 21-year-old (set to turn 22 on Oct. 31) who hails from Jaromir Jagr's hometown of Kladno in the Czech Republic. "I don't know, I was just lucky these games."

Corey Locke and Andrei Kostitsyn each had a goal and an assist for Hamilton.

"I thought Andrei Kostitsyn had his best performance," said Hamilton head coach Doug Jarvis. "It's encouraging when you see a couple of the younger players jump in like that and have strong games."

Sean McAslan and Brad Winchester scored for the AHL's North Division leading Road Runners (5-1-1-0), while defenceman Rick Mrozik chipped in two assists.

"We're happy, we got five points," said Edmonton captain Dan Smith, referring to a tough stretch of three games in three days. "We had a chance to get six but we didn't get them."

Moss was kept busy in his first loss of the season as he stopped 40 of 43 shots he faced in the Edmonton net.

"He was unbelievable," Smith said of Moss. "It's good to know that we always have a chance to win the game with those two (Moss and Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers) between the pipes, no matter how we play."

After going down 1-0 early, Edmonton responded well by killing two straight penalties and then scoring a pair of goals in a span of 1:18. The visitors got on the board at 14:39 of the first period when McAslan was fed in the slot by Kyle Brodziak and quickly one-timed a shot past Yann Danis.

The Road Runners struck again when Winchester parked himself at the side of the Hamilton net and tipped in a Doug Lynch point shot on the power play just 78 seconds later.

Kostitsyn, a 19-year-old first round pick from the 2003 draft, redirected Locke's pass behind Moss at 5:44 of the first period for a 1-0 Hamilton lead.

The Bulldogs almost made it 2-0 on a similar two-on-one rush with Locke and Kostitsyn but Moss kept Edmonton in the game by denying Benjamin Carpentier, who had tried to scoop in the loose puck from in close.

Locke banged home a pass from Chris Higgins at 11:09 of the second, tying the game 2-2.

"(Locke) was a player that didn't play yesterday and the hope was that for this game, he would be a little fresher and have the legs," said Jarvis. "And he did."

Again, Hamilton had opportunity to build a lead but the struggling Bulldogs power play - just 12.5 per cent entering the game - could not convert on three straight man advantages late in the second. The power play finished 0-for-7.

"Later on in the season, you're going to lose games if you don't score on the power play like that," said Hamilton forward Jason Ward.

Edmonton has allowed just two goals in 39 times shorthanded this season.

Danis made 23 saves for his third win.

Notes - All three of Kostitsyn's points this season have come against Edmonton . . . Plekanec missed the net on a short-handed breakaway in the second period. Plekanec's four goals leads the team. . . . Smith got a puck in the face in opening period. He left the game temporarily but did return. . . . The Bulldogs played for the third consecutive night for

the second week in a row. They will do another "three in three" next weekend, with games against Philadelphia, Syracuse and Manitoba slated for Friday through Sunday.

Jarvis was interviewed before the game and said Danis had good rebound control and wasn't creating extra work for himself.

The announcers also said he was always square to the shooter. Gotta help in giving less rebounds.

Jarvis is a weird... oh yeah... Kostitsyn had a good game... hey how's about giving him some ice time!! c'mon... play the kid... he's already better then most of the guys on your team... Offense is what you need to win games man... can't GET to the championship if you DOn'T SCORE!!

Aside from that... he is a good coach... I just have this one beef with him when it comes 2 Kostitsyn. Good to see Kost and Locke have good Games... you know... I think Locke could be one of those Gretzky type characters... u know the type that can't skate that great, hard to get away from the check but they can still put up some points (ok Gretzky had crazy points but still u get the picture ---hopefully---)

Go Locke, GO AK-47, GO Higgs! Go Pleks, Go flippin Dawgs!!

I would of. I've been a big Locke fan from my days when I use to live in Ottawa. The boy is determined and sees the game very well. If he improves his speed, he'll be on the big team in 2-3 years. Nice to see the Dogs doing so well.
