If the emulator is still running at the same speed as the regular game, it is either interpolating frames, doubling frames, or running at the original frame rate. Interpolating seems rather unlikely, and either of the other two result in the same framerate.

depends on how the thing was programmed I guess. Most games I play on emulator seem to have higher actual framerates than 30.
Surely you mean 1.8-2mbps? Otherwise, I want that connection of yours.
Hah, yeah...
I'm going to go ahead and blame that on cold meds, even though it's probably got nothing to do with them.
I started the download at about 10am, and it completed about 5 minutes ago... So, assuming a steady download, it took almost 3 hours to complete, in case anyone was curious.
Aaaaaaaaaaaand Bioware does a GREAT job turning me away from their products (again).
So, I'm finally setup to start playing TOR, load the game up, and lo and behold... Every. Single. Server. is down, because they're patching in a new major update.
That right there is some extremely stupid, EXTREMELY customer unfriendly decision-making there.
"Hey guys! Come check out our sweet new game! Free for 4 days!" ... "But, you won't be able to play it for an indeterminate amount of time during those 4 days, because we've also decided that your 4 days is the best time for a major content patch!" ... "Why yes, this *IS* extremely poor timing, but we hope you'll understand!"
Bush league, Bioware, really, really bush league...
Also, I hate NHL 12 right now, especially having a lead/being tied on the last minute. It's like every single AI team is a team full of Charas and Lidströms on D and has Crosby making plays with two Ovies shooting. Oh, and my goalie is suddenly changed from Bäckström to Vesa Toskala. I've lost 3 years in a row in first round of the playoffs, every single time I've lost the deciding game to a last minute goal. This year, managed to take Sharks to 2. OT in game 7 before losing to a stupid front of the net rush goal with Havlat pushing Spurgeon back in order to score. Yeah, it's not like I didn't check him or anything.
Last night I played an insane game against the Nucks. I was down 4-1 after the first, but then after the 2nd it was 7-4 me. Final score was 11-9 me. Friggin insanity.
All of this crap is coming after I tinkered with my lines. I need to de-tinker with them, cause I fixed what was not broke.
I've only played HUT this year. Seriously, nothing else
Meh, I don't like HUT. I mean, the concept is good but I feel the physics are different from the regular NHL 12. That, and the constant "long contracts, develop guys to 99 and sell when cheap contract expires" - mesh means that you can never build a lasting team. I want a team that I build last for the season, or at least longer than now. And I want more chemistry if the guys play longer together, i.e. 99 + 0.5 for every game played together.
When does the Wii U launch? That could have something to do with it.
The Wii U doesn't exactly sound conducive to an NHL game if you know what I mean. It's "Holiday 2012" so that will be November. I'd put my money on the 20th (Gamecube released 11/18, Wii 11/19, and this year 11/20 is a Tuesday).

Its the first console of the next generation. I think there will be at least one iteration of all the major sports games on it within the first year its out. Also the touchscreen controller sounds like it will be an option and not mandatory, with more traditional controllers being an option.

The "traditional" controllers are the current Wii Motion Plus controllers. The NHL series pretty heavily relies upon dual analog in its current incarnation, which is why EA's Wii offerings have been separate, custom games. The new Xbox will likely be the first next gen console with NHL[year] on it.
anyone heard and news or rumors about nhl 13? i read somewhere this is suppose to be gen 4 of nhl games
Absolutely nothing yet. It's unusually quiet with no rumors or anything, but they usually don't show the first screens or footage until just before or during E3 in June.

Nintendo does their major releases (originally just consoles, but now most of their games, too) on Sundays, so the 18th is a better bet.
I don't see any reason it wouldn't be conducive to an NHL game, though.

I would tend to agree that it will probably see most of the major sports games within a year, but they wouldn't hold up the normal yearly schedule for it. Their general MO is to get one out relatively near the console's launch date, and then stay on track for the next year's annual release. So there'll probably be a late Wii U release of NHL 13 a few months after the 360/PS3 versions, and then a Wii U version will come out with the other two by the time 14 rolls around.

Classic Controller Pro and Wii U tablet thingamajigger both could handle an NHL game.

I forgot that Sony was the one with the Tuesday release on the 2 days separate 7th gen systems.

The tablet couldn't handle it in its standard configuration, and would be a stretch even for EA. As for the classic controller, I just don't see a game releasing on a brand new system that requires what amounts to a third party controller. Has that happened with any system 5th gen onward (other than established, has always needed 3rd party controller series like GH/RB)?
EA's much more likely to make another Wii specific game rather than shoehorning their other series into it.

2 joysticks, 4 buttons, 2 sets of shoulder buttons... I really don't see why the tablet couldn't handle it.
Then offer CC as an option for multiplayer (and for purists).

It only has two shoulder buttons. Theoretically, does it have "enough" buttons? Yes, but the positioning of the buttons (and the thumbsticks even) all but guarantees a horrible experience. Even a singleminded megacorp like EA would be turned off by that. Also, there's only one tablet controller.
If EA releases an NHL game on it, it will likely be a sequel to this one.

I see four.
I agree that it looks a bit awkward for NHL, but I also have heard that initial impressions of those who have used it are that it's much more comfortable than it looks, so I guess I really have no idea if it would work well or not.
And, again, no reason players 2-4 can't use a classic controller. They're gonna have to buy another controller anyway.
Well considering the Wii was basically a GameCube with different controllers, I'd hardly consider the WiiU to be nextgen. More lastgen with a touchscreen, which makes no sense.
I have no idea what Nintendo's doing, it's just going off in a different direction. They're so hyper focused on the casual gamer than they forgot what made them big in the first place. Quality software, fun games.

They have definitely gravitated towards the family-based console.....I tried playing NHL on the Wii......worst $50 I ever spent. Mario is the only real fun game on the Wii, and the Sports Resort stuff is fairly good as well. That's all I've found.
