In other news, I just got off the phone with Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford. I believe the Wild has strong interest in Tuomo Ruutu, but the price according to Rutherford is "real high" based on the amount of teams interested in him. Rutherford will talk to Ruutu's agent to see what it'll take to re-sign the free-agent-to-be. He hopes to have a decision by the first of next week as to whether he'll trade or re-sign Ruutu.
You need to include the next line from that quote:
Unless the price for Ruutu comes down, I can't see the Wild giving up any of its top prospects for a rental. But Ruutu is a great player and lots of teams, including the Wild, are lining up.
Judging from Rutherford's later comments today, I can't see the price for Ruutu falling into the territory where the Wild are willing to make a deal. I'm sure we'll go hard after him if he hits free agency, but we're not in position to spend a bunch on a rental.
I guess something like Cody Almond and a mid pick? I have no idea.
You're sure not kidding. With all the talk of how many teams are interested and how significant of a return Rutherford is looking for if he is going to move him, you're going to offer Cody Almond and a mid-round pick?
I believe he is best buds with Mikko Koivu, so maybe he would take a discount to play with the pathetic Wild. Phillips, Zanon, Schultz, Backstrom, Zidlicky and Clusterbuck, the later because he is way over-rated by what seems to be most Wild fans, and his value will never be higher. Particularly when all of this wonderful prospects that are too good to trade (not my opinion) push him permanently down to the 4th line.
Not sure why anyone in their right mind would start an offer with Phillips and Larsson, who will both be better with Ruutu, then add to it.
We don't need Ruutu at the price being asked, so there's no point in making an offer like this.
That's why it says OR not AND, if you read more closely It says Phillips or Larsson Cuma or Almond and a 3rd I never said And and would never offer both players in a deal. Also I said I could maybe see this.
