I know it said "or", I still wouldn't do it. Ruutu is not that good, and we are not in the position to be giving up good assets for him. We are a fringe playoff team at best this year. If we were in the top four in the conference, maybe, but as it stands, GMCF would be stupid to trade any of our top prospects for him.

OK I wouldn't want to trade them either and don't think we will but I think that's the type of deal Carolina would be looking for and maybe they add a 2nd with Ruutu. But I still would stay away since our top prospects look to be real real real good and unless we were trading for Malkin or something then I think they should stay and will.

No, just no, especially not for that.

Top 6 forwards are becoming less and less available... they never hit free agency anymore. Therefore, the price to acquire one is higher.

Ruttu is a good top 6 forward that can do the dirty work.

He is definitely worth a 1st round pick... that mid 1st has like 25% chance at even making it to the NHL.

Except we don't have one of those unless it's for like 2013 or later, but yeah I'll give you someone else's 2nd for Ruutu lol. I could see us maybe parting with someone like Erik Haula and say a 5th for him but I don't think that does it.

the wild have plenty of prospects that will need top 6 ice to develop and succeed (plus injured PMB and Gui). I think ruutu would be a great addition but with the way this team has been drafting I'm fine with holding the pick (not to mention the pick + top prospect which has been suggested)

No, just wishful thinking.

There was also another plus, and we have several good prospects I'd be willing to throw in to get that deal done.

The only way Ruutu goes to the Wild is as a UFA. No way Fletcher wins an auction for him. I do think he'll get a 1st+ or comparable, but Fletcher can't afford to get burned like he did in the Barker trade, and even then at least Barker had years of team control.

Also, anything involving Coyle is wishful thinking considering he was the centerpiece of the Sharks' package for Burns.

This is NOT a ZOMG ANOTHER RUUTU THREAD or a WHY WOULD HE GO THERE HE WANTS TO WIN discussion. Please keep it on topic.

Here is a link that proves the wild have interest: http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/139026169.html
Russo is one of the worst beat writers in the NHL. what he says is about as correct as Eklund.

Coyle is a spare part. he's quite expendable. Koivu is signed for 6 more years, Granlund is ready to go (46 points in 40 games, 19 goals), and Zack Phillips (67 points in 46 games, 26 goals), who is now Coyle's teammate after Coyle left Boston U high and dry, will likely have a better pro career, and is probably ready to be in the NHL too. Coyle would be a 4th line center unless he switched positions. He simply isn't needed.

Would you do Kadri + 1st for Ruutu?

why even post....seriously? troll

Wild don't need Ruutu, they need Latendresse healthy. Ruutu isn't worth the price.

So much hate! Calm down! My knowledge of Tuomo is from his pre NHL days, and Blackhawk days. Back then i remember hearing he had tons of skills and played a physical game but had injury issues, he had a bad knee injury in his 1st few years correct? It's not like i watched a game to scout the guy. It looks like he hit his stride in Carolina. Good for him.

Back on subject, I don't see the Wild offering anything like what people are suggesting here. My hunch is if they don't think they can sign him, they will get 1 blue chip prospect and a mid pick, OR a #1 and a projected 3-4 line prospect.

I wouldn't give a 1st and ANY of those players for him.
I was saying one of those players, not all. Thats what Rutherford is asking and Fletcher would not pay it. Thus it's not happening.

The price for Ruutu is too high for the Wild.

Also, the team needs the forward spots for next season and there really isn't a place for Ruutu.

We still have:
Koivu, Heatley, Setoguchi, Clutterbuck, Cullen, Johnson, Powe, Bouchard (*), Latendresse (*) and a few other 4th liners.

We need to keep a forward spot open for Mikael Granlund. Maybe Charlie Coyle or Brett Bulmer.

Without shipping some of our forwards out for a PMD... I just don't see the logical need for Ruutu.

Plus, the Wild are signing Parise July 1. Gotta save a spot for him.
