OK I got a touch behind.
When I saw they had a powerplay, I knew it was bad news. Our PK seems to suck like it used to.
YAY Stewart, good to tie it up. And I was thinking, no score in the first...
On another note, anyone watching the game on NHL Center Ice? The sound quality SUCKS and it seems like it's been this way on a lot of Blues games.... I don't notice it on others. It sounds like they are talking in a bubble or something, it's hard to describe but it's annoying.
Commercial - fan in a Devils Jersey, instead of a name it says "In Cam We Trust" hehehe....
I don't think they look like a different team tonight. They look pretty good tonight. NJ has 40 pts in its last 28 games, Blues have 39. We're on their ice and they play this same kind of style against the Rangers.
What's different is the loss of Steen has really hurt. Losing 4 of their top 9 guys with whom they entered the season has taken its toll.
The Devils were 7 of their last 22 on the PP coming in and the Blues had given up 6 goals on the lasy 19 opportunities, as I mentioned at the end of the Ottawa GDT the other night, so that's where the real edge is. NJ immediately exploited that. That kind of Stewart goal had not been happening so it's quite timely in a game like this.
Blues can't kill penalties at a 65% rate as they're doing over their last 20 (stretching back to before the ASG break). They won't win. Frankly Halak has to catch that puck. He's been great but he tends to give up bad ones early sometimes.
What NJ has but the Blues don't is that high end scoring line who can really finish and we saw it in that first period.
