I don't think they look like a different team tonight. They look pretty good tonight. NJ has 40 pts in its last 28 games, Blues have 39. We're on their ice and they play this same kind of style against the Rangers.
What's different is the loss of Steen has really hurt. Losing 4 of their top 9 guys with whom they entered the season has taken its toll.
I was thinking the same thing. A lot of back-and-forth action and considering how depleted we are up front, I thought they played a solid period.
I've gotten used to seeing this team perpetually minus McDonald, but Steen's loss is a lot more noticeable. I was really happy that they managed to go 8-1-2 in January without him.
