Alumni Rosters for the 2013 Winter Classic

Construct your Winter Classic alumni rosters for the Red Wings vs. Maple Leafs. This game has so much potential.

As long as Federov and McCarty play, I'm happy.

Not to sound rude but I don't believe he can walk very well so seeing him on skates is probably a no go.

Who says he has to actually play? It would be a nice way to honor him.

As a Detroit fan, we're all hoping that Fedorov plays in it and gets the standing ovation that he finally deserves. If 4 of the 5 members of the Russian 5 participated it would be absolutely awesome.

Others likely candidates that i can't see not playing:
The Grind Line, Kocur, Mickey Redmond, Osgood

The two big questions due to work: Yzerman and Shanahan. Yzerman already said that he's not planning to play in it, but there's still time for that decision to be reversed.

Then after that there's a lot of possibilities...

Edit: And oh yeah, i bet you Larry Murphy plays which is quite fitting.

At this point Yzerman is not planning to participate in the alumni game:

I'd be surprised if any of the bolded were invited/accepted (though specifically Leetch and Francis). Also no mention of Potvin? Disappointed!

Besides that, it looks good. Salming, Vaive, Sittler, Clark, Gilmour, Sundin are all gimmes.

As per NHL.com Leetch and Cujo would say yes if invited.

Quote:
"I'd play for Toronto, of course," Joseph said.

If he does get the call to play, Joseph, who still has a home in Oakville, Ont., said he'd immediately get on the phone to recruit Brian Leetch, who played only 15 games and registered 15 points in a Maple Leafs jersey after getting traded to Toronto by the New York Rangers in 2004.

"Once a Leaf, always a Leaf," Joseph said. "I'm the goalie; I'd want to have Leetch as my defenseman."

Leetch, who is also here for Gretzky's Fantasy Camp, said he'd accept the offer. He also played in a celebrity game at Fenway Park and in the recent alumni game at Citizens Bank Park between the Rangers and Flyers.

"Absolutely," Leetch told NHL.com when asked if he'd be willing to play in another alumni game. "I was thinking about that when they announced it. I said to myself, 'There are so many Toronto alumni, I don't know if I'm going to make the cut on that one, but I'll certainly throw my name in the hat if they need it.' It's been fun. I got to play in Fenway and then this past year's, so if I got to sneak into another one it'd be great.

"You never know. I'd say yes if they asked me."

He's been in Toronto for the past while doing interviews and stuff on his jersey being retired this saturday.. there is no chance of him not being in the game.

That makes no sense to me, but if that's the case then all the incoming "Aki Berg" jokes actually hold merit as serious suggestions...

Can't like 90% of the red wings play in both the "i'm old way past my time game" as well as the WC?!?

Considering the original 6, are we going to need wheelchairs on ice skates? I kid, I kid.

I seriously hope Konstantinov is there. The cheering I heard back in the 90s for him can make anyone weep. Even if he is not skating, I want him to be there.

I can almost guarantee that MLSE will ask Johnny Bower to attend.

On a side note, Lidström should play in both games. Seriously.
