Stupid (to re-sign him now). Could've probably netted something nice for him at the deadline.

I concur.

I think this is a silly signing, however they probobly want to reach the salary floor given that they may move carter/nash.

You need bodies to fill your roster and hes not signed for a stupid term or contract. Probobly going to move next year tho.

I would have rather moved him for a nhl ready prospect.

He has the right attitude that we need in our locker room. I am ok with losing the second round pick we would have got for him.

Dumb move. He was going to net something decent at the trade deadline. I don't get this at all.

Always the possibility that nobody was offering a good prospect for Prospal. Age, injury past, etc...

If Blue Jackets do as much dealing as expected, it might be a good idea to hold on to Prospal.

Why even bother? The team is in last place, and he's almost 37. They should rebuild, not bring back the same washed-up faces. Howson should be fired before he ruins the team any further. Columbus deserves better.

Prospal had more trade value with an expiring contract then he does with 1 more year left.

I won't say it's a dumb move for Columbus. I'll just say that I don't understand it.

I suppose they figured that the contract was as good as they could get (or better) than what they'd see on the open market in the offseason for that kind of production.

I think I'm more surprised that Prospal signed the deal rather than be traded to a playoff contender for the rest of the year.

Regardless, if Columbus fans are happy, then congratulations.

I'm shocked as I was convinced he was going to be moved but I'm glad he is staying.

If this team undergoes some roster changes, this team is still going to need some veteran leaders to make sure things are done right.

Vinny plays the game the way it should be played. I hope his work ethic and desire to win rubs off on the youth of the organization and the 2012-13 roster.

Well, if Columbus deemed it best to have Prospal on their roster, and had zero intention of trading him, then it's really not a big deal for a one year contract. Of course, this means if they suck next year too, then they can't get an asset for him at the 2013 trade deadline either.

Obviously they have identified him as a key veteran presence. Not the way I would have gone about things, but I'm just some random internet guy on a message board, so my opinion and a dollar might just get you a cup of coffee.

This move is curious, to say the least. If the org wants to change the culture of losing that is deeply imbedded in the locker room, then perhaps this might be a sign that they might be blowing things up big time (ie Nash and Carter both gone) and Vinny will be the guy to mentor the youngsters.
