Kinda like the guy who'd sign Price at 3.5M.
13th forward ? Darche was suppose to be our 13th forward this year and he din't miss a single game. The guys I named you would be in the top 12 anyway

Which brings me back to the point : do you decline to sign a guy like Darche because you signed a guy like Prust, because one will be a regular and the other will be a 13th forward.

If not for the games where Moen-Eller-Kost were on fire, Darche would be floating around 15-16 minutes a game average. The guy is 35, it's time to cut ties. Let him go to Tampa Bay with all the other rejects.

Eller has been scratched in favour of Darche.
Kostitsyn has been scratched in favour of Darche.
Leblanc has been scratched in favour of Darche.

We simply do not need a guy like him around next year.
How is that Darche's problem, exactly? And scratching a Center to play a... Winger instead. Really? Are you serious?

He SHOULD be the 13th forward next year. Or actually be the 13th forward on the depth chart, and be signed accordingly.

Don't worry, I'm not advocating Darche as a Top-9 forward at all. Hell, I never even suggested he should be anything else than the designated 13th forward.

I would rather keep Blunden or Nokelainen as 13th forward.

Darche is better than both of them.

It's your choice.

Blunden and Nokelainen are younger, faster, more physical and RFA (so probably re-signed).

Habs seem to like Blunden but Nokelainen doesn't seem to have a future here.

Darche has been very good the last half dozen or so games...but i thought he was garbage for most of the season. I had him completely written off for next season, now maybe he's 50/50 to return.

I dont see Blunden or Nokeleinen as NHLers...at least not NHLers on teams that hope to accomplish something.

PG or whoever is running this club in the summer would be well served to beef up our 4th line with real NHLers.

He's been alright, you need veterans like him on your team. I don't like when he's used on the powerplay, but that's not his fault. I think he'll be back next year.

Something tells me the chemistry in the Habs dressing room hasn't been this good in a long time.Darche and AK both are dedicated to winning and the whole team is committed to winning the Cup.Their play lately is anything but the play of a lottery drafting team and with the attention to the little things are paying off.Go Habs Go!

Why a low salaried, low maintenance, gritty winger who is a big part of the #1 penalty kill unit in the NHL continues to get bashed is one of life's greatest mysteries.

I first taught of him as a passing ''band aid''.....But.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ7Re...yer_detailpage

But he keeps sticking around and ....Doing a GREAT job for his talent and salary level.

He will likely comeback next year in a real 13th role player if we graduate lots of youngsters....

True that is an mind boggling to see him on PP but there must be a valid reason, no???The two last coaches have rewarded him that time by default or on merit??
A little of both but one has to agry...

We in deep sh..t, as far as depth is concerned, to be that position!
I'm not degrading Darche, I'm just as surprised you of his PP time......Having said that Darchy deserved the praise the last 2 coaches gave him!

So is PK Subban vs. Niklas Lidstrom...

Again : 13th forward.
Habs won't have anybody in the Farm to take the spot of a Top-6 going down (at least for a pinch).

Darche can SOMEWHAT do the job, for a very short stint. Or actually, Leblanc can do it, and Darche would fit in just okay on the 3rd line, much better than Blunden (I'm going nowhere, but fast) and Nokelainen (who makes Darche looks like Pavel Datsyuk as far as hockey sense is concerned).

Besides, the 4th C is a spot that the team will definitely look to improve in the offseason, so I don't even know why Noke is in this conversation.

Bottom line is he wants to stay because in Montreal he has achieved stability, mild success and is important because of the French media. He's even landed spokesperson ads from companies! He doesn't get that kind of treatment anywhere else in the league if he leaves Montreal. He's a decent spare part, but I think it's time to cut ties.

I'd honestly cut ties out of spite. I'm sick of seeing him get interviewed, he's a spare part who's overblown and overplayed. Yeah he's having a hot streak now but he was varying degrees of turd-like most of the season.

So let's boil it down...

A fringe NHL player, would like to stay with his current employer and continue to make an NHL paycheck....

Wow, riveting news.

Is Darche really the type of player who has a say in what happens to him?

Sign him to a two way, if anything; he's dispensable. Good thing management doesn't wear their heart on its sleeve, I can see them letting him walk.

Watch English TV then .

If he's interviewed so often it's because he is one of the only three players who can speak French on the team. And it seems the management are keeping DD and Leblanc far from microphones and cameras.

Amen to that.

I really can't get the hating anymore. The guy has a lot of heart and he is ALWAYS working hard on the ice.

You don't like him being on the 2nd line? I can understand that. You don't like to see him play 20 minutes per game? I can understand that. But what he hell he is supposed to do? Tell the coach to play him less to make the fans happy? Get real people, he isn't the guy to blame!

Darche is scoring at a pace of 60 points in his last 7 games

if you guys gonna sit there and hate a guy who is making 700 K than some ppl got issues.

What does he have to prove that he's a good investment.

Oh, and by the way Haters, He's going to be our coach one day... So get use to him.

People admire his hard work but its annoying seeing him playing first line minutes, there is a reason the guy was in the AHL his whole career until a couple years ago - he lacks talent. I don't care if he plays PK and on the 4th line but when I see him on the ice with 2 minutes left when we're down a goal it makes ZERO sense.

And not sure if you're being serious or not but he said on that "Your Canadiens" TV show last year he has zero interest in coaching.
