Selanne may be looking for that last cup..

What would you offer to have Selanne play for your team this second half of the season?

All I read was that Selanne knows how important this stretch is for the Ducks and wants to keep playing here. Don't think that has changed at all the whole season..

Just for fun? Maybe Raymond and a 1st. Selanne with the Sedins could be interesting. I'm not sure Anaheim can really expect much more than a 2nd pairing dman or 2nd line winger and a 1st, maybe add an average prospect

Sedin-Sedin-Selanne would be pretty sweet.

He isn't going anywhere unless he wants to and the Ducks get a ransom, if anything, a good end to the Ducks season could have him coming back another year. I think Anaheim's season is an anomaly.

They're playoff contenders in my eyes.

Boston could spare a good prospect and a first round pick. Not Hamilton.....
This would give the man his best chance to win the cup 1 last time...

They lack depth, their goalie has been shaky, and their defence lacks depth with Visnovsky gettign older. Fowler's improved but he struggles with big minutes still. I don't see them as a contender anytime soon unless Palmieri/Etem/Vananen etc develop and that's at least 2 yrs away.

They go on a 3 or 4 game slide, they're out of playoff contention. As long as they maintain a .750+ win % week to week, they'll still be in it.

I doubt Selanne will leave though. As long as it's mathematically possible, he'll stay.

If the Penguins had a healthy Crosby, 2nd + Kuenhackl + Strait

Without Sid, forget it. Not worth it.

I want Selanne in a Pittsburgh jersey though

I don't see it happening, and if it does, the Ducks are going to want more than people have been proposing in this thread.

Here's the thing about franchise legends that are on their last season

Selanne: " Hey Murray, I've loved my time with the Ducks organization and will consider myself a duck forever, but is it possible to grab a move to try a move to try and win one last cup?"

Murray:" Of course, where is the ideal location?"

Selanne(Note: Picking the team I personally believe will win the cup): "Boston" would be a great fit

Murray: 'Go downstairs and i'll call you up in a minute".

Chiarelli: "Hi Murray, what can I do for you?".

Murray:"Want Selanne?"

Chiarelli: "A 7th works"

Murray: " Come on, I'll hang up"

Chiarelli: " A first?"

Murray: "Done"

Deals for legends are not auctions, they pick their location without haggling

As do I. He'd have a greater impact on a Cup run here than Hossa. Ideal rental.

Predators could send Jon Blum home and could add further. Ducks should ask for Ekholm but fans probably would ask for a 1st/2nd round pick instead. I'd do either.

Ballard, Raymond, 1st if the Ducks were actually going to move him, which they aren't.

IF Selanne does move, I see it to being to a team in the Western Conference only. But Selanne has to ask out first.

Don't think that gets you Selanne.

Just a quick guess. He is a rental after all.

I really doubt that Anaheim gets a ransom for him. Unless Selanne gives a healthy amount of teams on his list, his value is diminished purely on the amount of suitors available to trade with. If he just wants Cup contenders, that's literally maybe five or six teams and that's only if Selanne doesn't have a stricter sense of the word or other preferences.

"Let's see what happens," said Selanne.

That's more open than I expected. Obviously he's still trying to claw the team into the playoffs, but if they fall out, it looks like he might be open to the idea of wearing Red.

Raymond + 1st > Ballard + Raymond + 1st.

No cap dumps unless you send more assets.

1st+B prospect is pretty good value for a rental. If a bidding war ensues, then a 1st+top prospect.

I didn't look up salary, but isn't Selanne close to $5 million? If he's on a cheap contract then nevermind about Ballard. Perhaps Raymond, 1st, and a prospect not named Schroeder/Tanev?
