If Crosby's back for the playoffs, Selanne would be the perfect winger to acquire. With the Malkin/Neal duo already showing tremendous chemistry, the Pens adding Selanne to play alongside Crosby on their other scoring line would make them deadly.

What the cost would be to acquire Selanne (if he was available), I don't know.

Selanne + Brookbank

Obviously Ballard would have to be moved to another team, hes not as bad as people on here think. He is no Komisarek. The guy has been solid this year, he's just not worth 4.2 million. At 3.2 million, he'd probably be the perfect cap hit.
Damn Id take that package if Teemu wants to move, thats great value for Anaheim IMO. I just dont think A Vancouver would offer that, and B I think all of these "rumors" are just that.

The team outta training camp.... I have no idea where ya heard he's two years away.

Schultz on our blueline next season and Etem up front on our 2nd or 3rd line. It's a done deal.

If Teemu wants to stay close to family, Sharks and Kings are possible destination, but are not top contenders.

Travel wise would knock out Red Wings, Bruins, Rangers.

Vancouver is closer and is a contender, veteran Finnish in Salo.

Of course Travel shouldn't mean much, so I would say its a wash at the top.

If Kings or Sharks can establish themselves as a contender by deadline. I would not be surprised if Teemu ends up there.

I'd love to have Selanne on the B's for the playoff run... He's a rental and is probably going to retire next year, 1st and a good (not Hamilton or Khoklachev) prospect?

Etem could easily land in Syracuse, next season.

"Value" is good, but Murray does not want picks, he wants "young pros" (not necessarily on the NHL roster).

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him on the Red Wings but I feel in my heart that he will be a Duck until the end. Without the Ducks Teemu might have retired during the lockout, just coming off of his worst offensive season and not feeling too great about his future. Anaheim put the Flash back in the Finnish Flash. They gave him 7 more seasons playing the game he loves. They are allowing him to go out the way he wants. I don't think Teemu is going anywhere and if he does, it's going to be a veteran friendly team contending for the cup, like Detroit.

As a Detroit fan, I wouldn't be opposed to trading, say Tatar + 2nd for Selanne's services.

In my mind it makes sense for Vancouver too.

Overpaying for Selanne would secure our forward pack.

D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Burrows
Higgins - Kesler - Booth
Selanne - Hodgson - Hansen
Bitz - Lapierre - Malholtra
* Gives Selanne offensive role, lower ice time to save for playoffs, and gets to spread his wisdom to Hodgy.

Adding brookbank as our 5/6 guy would also be alright, since Ballard is an offensive dman who is put in only defensive situations. On a side note, Brookbank injured right now isn't he? How long is he out for? What kind of injury is it?

Edler - Salo
Bieksa - Hamhuis
______ - Brookbank
Alberts - Rome

This leaves Van with probably around 2.5-3 million to shop for a #5 dman to play with Brookbank.

This lineup is a definate improvement over the one we have now.

Raymond would look sick beside Cogliano, have two fastest skaters in the league playing on the third line. Also gives you Tanev and a 1st who could potentially be 2 young defencman to play behind Fowler, Sbisa, and other youngens for the future.

Works for both teams if you ask me. Question is can Van get better value somewhere else? I think not.

That's an overpayment - I know that In your post you said that in order to get him to VAN it would take an overpayment but you're giving away your best D prospect + a pick for someone that MIGHT get you over the hump. Steep price IMO.

Awesome, don't watch too much ducks hockey.

Everytime ducks play van, Brookbank is solid. I think he knows Vancouver to so he would be comfortable, gives another fiesty dman who could excel in the playoffs.

Would you say the guy is a defensive liability?

I know, just saying in any deal, we would probably need a dman. Plus, who knows about GMs. They make deals that baffle us all.

Vancouver could very well trade Schneider for some forward or defenceman, which would make 0 sense for our situation.

Who knows what GMs think, but yes I understand Ballard is not a sought after asset.

If you're throwing just Raymond and a 1st for Selanne and putting him on the third line, that seems like a waste. You slap him on Vancouver and he's the third leading scorer. I don't see why you wouldn't put him with the Sedins and move Burrows to the 2nd and Higgins to the 3rd.

Selanne willing to waive NTC for redwings?

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index....ep_an_eye.html

If the ducks fall out of the playoff race it sure sounds like Selanne would be willing to go to Detroit. He basically avoids the questions about potentially getting traded but doesnt deny that he might waive his NTC.

The wings have pursued him hard in the past and would no doubt love a right handed sniper for the PP and cup run. Hes also pretty close with Val Filppula.

If he were to waive you would have to think it would only be for a couple teams and Detroit has to be up there, if not the top team.

Because he isnt on the open market and there wont be a bidding war, what kind of package do you think he would receive?
