I believe he was astonished that the speaker (Munz, as it turns out) thought Pavelec and Schneider could be considered close in terms of trade value.

I think Tom was referring to the Schneider Pavs comparison as in "do the other posters actually think they are close talent wise"?

Edit: or perhaps in terms of trade value as Gm0ney mentioned?

i don't know how a goalie who's performed in all measurable facits below average could possibly be considered close in terms of value or performance to a goalie who has consistently been above average.... but too each there own I guess?

Rick you and Ryan Reeves were in fire on the round table. Not sure what it is about the chemistry between you two (opposites type thing) but you could be a comedy team. The gratuity mortgage show down between the RR and Slates adds was hilarious.

It's cause Ralph couldn't be a smarta$$ to Reaves. Reaves would have knocked him out.

That interview with Sean Mooney was both fascinating and terrifying

actually I'd highly recommend people checking out the podcast if they missed it

actually they have great chemistry like an old comedic team from an era gone bye. Ryan is really quick on the uptake and sports a similarly sarcastic style, although much less dry, and the banter rolls back and forth at a pretty fast pace. Rick was prepped well and asked some solid questions that established good content as well as the humor aspect.

Thanks for the link.....I was in and out of the car and caught about 5 minutes of that but it seemed like it was going to be fascinating.

I think Shane and Brian are doing a great job today. Would like to hear more of them on the round table.

I definitely think RR could use a regular co-host. I don't mind Rick but his shtick gets old when he's carrying on conversations with himself...

RR "Does Evander Kane earn his money?"

RR "Absolutely"

RR "Does he have the right to enjoy his money?"

RR "Sure he does."

RR "Is it a good idea to post pictures of his money on Twitter?

RR "maybe, maybe not."

RR "Does it mean he wants out of Winnipeg?"

RR "I don't know about that."

(patented RR chuckle)

RR "up next, I'm going to talk with the player who's come to be known as "New Guy," Grant Clitsome..."

They had Hnidy on the RRT today. He was suggesting that while not sure if it was realistic, that he'd consider moving Buff up to right wing. It's an old discussion but I was happy to know at least one person around the team agreed with me lol

They were also talking about Olli as though he is effective along the boards.

In all seriousness... Moving Buff to RW is a waste of an asset. He is better as a D man.

You could probably get an equal RW wing asset and then some if you move him to another team.

It is certainly possible we could get back a quality top six forward for Buff if the opportunity arose.

I believe pretty strongly that Buff could at least do what Bryan Bickell has been doing for the Hawks this post-season. Thats probably not worth a $5.25M cap hit, but I'm not sure it is a "waste" of an asset. He'd probably be top five in the league as an in front of the net guy?I guess it depends on what we would get back hypothetically in a trade. And how quickly Trouba gets acclimated to the NHL.

But what the hell it's something to stir the pot a little.

PS I I'd find what they said about Olli a little odd. He's not exceptionally good at anything these days

Brian Bickell won't be able to sustain what Brian Bickell has done this post season.

Not necessarily talking stats wise. I mean in the fact that he could be a big body that is at times (ie: when he feels like playing hard) impossible to handle in front of the net. Creating space for skilled players, crashing the net, laying big hits to wear down opposition defensemen and burying chances when the chances arrive. These kind of players aren't very easy to find.

Sure he'll probably take half the regular season off (like Bickell, Penner, Lucic all seem to) but come playoff time he'd be worth his weight in gold.

Agree. And whichever team throws 3+ million at him if he makes it to Free Agency, will go on to regret it, in my opinion.

I'd take him at 3MM - simply because I don't expect anybody good to go cheaper - but I think he will get 4 or more.

Which of these players will sign for under $3.5MM

Boyes
Clarkson
Marc-Bouchard
Brunner
Horton
Jagr
Ryder
Stalberg
Raymond
Bickell
Iginla
Ribero

I am guessing PMB and Stalberg. Nobody else.

I think you're certainly right about those guys. But I think I even feel scared with Bickell at 3 million per. Chances are he's getting nothing short of 3-4 years as a UFA. I'm just not sure yet if he's worth that.

But I agree with you, I could surely see a team throwing 4 million his way.

$3MM is 3rd line money in free agency. You have to pay that to get anyone good.

I see somebody throwing him 4-4.5 to play in their top 6 even though I don't see him as a top 6 forward.

True, and I agree. I suppose I was more so alluding to it just depends on what team and budget you're talking about. Not every team spends 3 million per on 3rd liners.

Edit: Sorry, I missed you said "in free agency". I agree with you.

Is Versteeg a FA or one year left? Anybody know how his recovery is coming along?

I hate to do this, but I think this thread is redundant with our Free Agent and Around the NHL threads currently active.

If TSN breaks anything really chat-worthy, someone can go ahead and start up a new thread with the TSN prefix. Until then, I copied the past few posts from this thread to the Jets - Free Agent etc. etc. thread.

Closed.
