DeBoer was fired here because the teams he was given in years past sucked. The blown leads were mostly a result of not scoring enough goals.
Tallon brought in Dineen for the simple fact that he wanted a change, and the change was best for both parties.
For whatever reason, the players respond to Dineen more, but we're not exactly scoring more goals. We've just found a way to keep leads better (because we have better players with experience).
It really had nothing to do with DeBoer though. When he had an actual team here, the team was pretty good at keeping leads his first year (a 93 point season).
I don't even think Tallon lets DeBoer go if not for the fact that he simply wasn't liked by a number of players on the team. Clemmensen, Kulikov, Repik, and I'm not sure who else...they've all criticized DeBoer this year for whatever reason. He had problems with certain players.
Coaching-wise though, the team competed just about every night, despite a lack of talent. It's not surprising that he's doing well. Panthers fans forget that the guy was considered our savior two seasons ago before the team fell apart (and still, we ended up with 93 points which is good for a playoff spot plenty of years, just not that year).
After the first year, Bouwmeester left and the offense was never upgraded because Jacques Martin didn't do anything and our previous owner was a cheap loser.
Sykora is ineffective thus far without Elas. Let's hope Henrique can get something out of him. Line 3 will be a good grindout line.
True, Henrique is a better passer than Zubrus, so maybe Sykora will be better off with him. Henrique and Clarkson have also had success together before.

Nah, he isn't. We have a ton of depth. He's doing fine on the fourth line. He's good enough defensively to keep the goons from being a liability.
Not sure I understand the swapping of Zubrus and Henrique. The 3rd line was playing great, but I guess he wanted to try and spark Clarkson and Sykora at even strength.

I'm ok with it. Our centres are seemingly interchangeable these days, what matters are the winger pairings.

zubie is slightly injured. Pinched nerve or something like that.
