The amount of risk involved and the opportunity for gain at each price point is distinctly different. So is the difficulty of getting financing. If you get a steal on a house at 20% under market, when you go to sell it your gains are that much bigger. By the same token, if you overpay for an NHL franchise you need major gains in value to get anything back. Your house analogy is not only false but it also shows you're not familiar with investing.
Sports franchises aren't always an investment. Quite often its a mega-wealthy guy flexing his money muscles and playing with a new toy. This franchise isn't going to sell locally on financial sense. If we get lucky, there's a super rich egomaniac willing to lose some money to make a winner in Glendale. Is there anyone like that? Do we even have any potential names anymore? Is it still Reinsdorf and Jamison?

Someone needs to travel to Abu Dhabi and show this guy

Some money? Try lots of money! JR and GJ are really not in this buying process, their names have been put forth as possible buyers, but as you can see they have largely non-existent. They also do not fit the description you posted above, if in fact they were interested in buying this team they are doing it to make money not lose it.

Who the hell wants the prestige of owning a small team in a small league in an anonymous city? Even then, those types STILL don't enjoy writing off 10-15% of the value of the team each year in losses. The closest thing to a savior (and dream owner) I can think of is AZ native Arte Moreno. He bought the Angels for $180 million and 5 years later they were worth $500 million.
There's no loyalty to Phoenix from the league on this. If they really, genuinely cared about the market in the long term they'd just take a 70 million loss or have some sort of long term debt deal.
"...but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis. Stay thirsty, my friends."
...somethin like that. Oh, and I once had a race with my Shadow. I won.
Sooooo, whats goin on?!. Googles spitting out nothing, its as if weve entered some strangely quiet Vortex, compass spinning wildly, about to find ourselves 10,000 Light Years from Home. Of course Ive been on this journey before, mapped it, but still. Some human contact would be nice no?...
I see. Oh well. Might as well drop in on Cuba, look up the girls of the National Ballet. You guys are no fun.
Well, will it add to the rumors and suspense if I mention that Morris and Korpi both recently bought homes in Scottsdale?
I tell myself it means nothing...they are rich and can spend millions on housing even if they have to sell it one month later, or they can keep it as a vacation home in the off-season. But wait, the off-season SUCKS here in Phoenix. Who in their right minds would live in the cold during hockey season and then come here in the summer?
A masochist?... would help to give legs to the rumor if I knew who "Korpi&Morris" might be. Sounds like the kinds of names youd see in neon outside of a funeral home, in gold on a subtle sign placed in the rear window of a Hearse.

No. A house in Scottsdale is on a lot of athletes' wish lists, off-season or not. Never been a better time to buy. Morris actually stays in Phoenix over the summer. His family is probably pretty comfortable with the city.

Morris has made it clear he genuinely loves living here in Phoenix, I'm pretty sure he plans on settling here with his family regardless of how the rest of his career plays out.
Right before the playoffs start? Thay would be very poor timing
Last season beofre the playoffs the idiots in the media had said that the Coyotes were moving to Winnipeg in an attempt to throw the team off its game and not make the playoffs. But who knows now???
I have a few people trying to convince me to not stop watching the NHL if the Coyotes relocate to a place like Vegas. So far Im standing by what Im going to do if the team leaves.

and it worked. Bryzgalov was a mess last year in the playoffs.

In the playoffs but he still had enough in the tank to carry the team into the playoffs. Our roster is is more mature now and have better pieces in place to not let the media influence what they are doing on the ice. If the team does fail to make the playoffs it will be because almost everyone on the team not named OEL, David S, Rusty, Torres, and Whitney decided to shoot themselves in the foot.
