u mean Martin Havlat( not Havlet) but thats not the case. Also why only for the next 2 years i dont get it, is there a reason u chose 2 yaers as an option, where is the Poll ???

IMO, i would say Havlat over Datsyuk, by alot.

im not high on Dats and think he is over rated and if not on DEt he would be a very solid second line center, as i think thats Havlat is way more of a natural and will be a #1 line guy any where he goes. even though he is not in Ottawa its only because the have so much scoring depth at fwd, any other team Havlat is a first line player no questions asked.

I'll guess I'll be the first to disagree, I'll take Pavel Datsyuk. There both excellent young players, I just like Datsyuk a little better. He seems a little more creative and explosive than Havlat. Of course, I gladly take either one on my team.

You're entitled to your own opinion...but there are few players more explosive and creative than Havlat imo..and I'm not quite sure Datsyuk is one of them

I like Datsyuk and all, but Havlat is simply going to be better over the next two years. It seems Datsyuk is in his prime right now.

Lets compare for a second...

Datsyuk, 68 points in 75 games.

Havlat 68 points in 68 games.

Datsyuk 30 goals.

Havlat 31 goals.

Havlat is 23, Datsyuk is 26.

And for you guys saying Datsyuk is a playmaker, look at this...

37 assists for Havlat, 38 for Datsyuk. 1 less assist in 7 less games. Not hard at all!

Datsyuk's lack of great skating ability already makes Havlat far more explosive, although I'll agree Datsyuk is the more creative of the two (one could argue Datsyuk is tops in the creativity department across the league.) The only area I can really think of Datsyuk being significantly better than Havlat in is stickhandling. Havlat is not afraid of getting his hands dirty, unlike Datsyuk, which is pretty important to me. Havlat also steps up his play in crucial situations; over 280 career games Havlat has 22 game winners, while in 209 career games Datsyuk only has 6 total. While Havlat is obviously a better goal scorer, that's still a pretty significant difference.

The stickhandling difference isn't as huge. People see Datsyuk making big moves on ESPN where he can get the recognition for it. Havlat can dangle with the best of them, he just doesn't get nearly as much play as Datsyuk because he's in a small market.

Both are amazing stickhandlers though.

Come late March of last year I would have taken Havlat without a 2nd thought.

Once Havlat came back from his 2 game suspension he seemed to play on the perimeter starting with the Flyers-Sens brawl game and finishing the regular season, and then was non-existant in the playoffs.

I'd still take Havlat ... but in my eyes he needs to bounce back from a sub-par finish to his season.

I'm talking about his finish to the regular season and his playoffs after returning from the suspension for whacking Recchi in the head.

In his final 16 games he had 12 points and was a (-2) and then against Toronto, he was a complete non-factor, with 3 assists and 0 goals.

I'd still take him over Datsuyk, but it was a disappointing finish.
