Hemsky played well outside of the horrendous turnover that lead to the Michalek goal. Magnus finally scores. Hall and Eberle had a 2nd straight bad game up until the Hall OT goal probably due to the fatigue of carrying the offense.
The defense needs to get their act together, subpar performance by them, Gilbert is still struggling with the injury it seems.
I know he scored the winner in OT, but how does he get the 3rd star? That had to have been one of his worst games yet. Hemsky should've been the 3rd star IMO.
I agree, but it's hard to not give a star to the guy that won it
The puck was exploding off his stick, he took bad penalties, couldn't get much going.
But he made two great back checks on the same shift in the 3rd and then... OT magic.
Game breaker indeed.
Yup, game breaker indeed. I know we'd all like to have him be the super all-star awesometastic guy we envision him to be all the time but the reality of it is he's young, still learning the NHL game and as a result he's going to have great and terrible games.
That was horcoffs best game in about 3 months. Not only did he put up the points he looked good doing it.
Hemsky is an enigma.
Petry reminds me so much of Gilbert. Can look very good and competant when no pressured but makes some just god awful give aways when a bit of panic sets in.
Pretty positive game overall. Kid line was quiet, but Hall still got the winner. MPS and Hemsky were both good, heck even Horcoff. Petry and Smid just seem to be getting better all the time, don't know why Renney broke that pairing up for a while.
And Gilbert is starting to look more comfortable as well.
Potter did not play the third period. They were rolling 5 D.
Petry looking good again. He should make a good number 2 or 3.. is he a number 1?
here's a question. which dman is more important, the number 2 (partner of number 1) or the number 3 (main guy on the second pairing)?
Other than about 4 awful giveaways one that resulted in the tieing goal. Petry is just like gilbert of a year or so ago. Can look good 80 % of the game but makes some terrible plays that result in goals or good scoring chances. He is for sure not a #1 or 2, potential to be a very soild 3-4 guy though.

Petry was pretty average today, one of his worst performances in a while. He had a bunch of turnovers (notably, the Karlsson goal) but also made some nice plays.
The expected growing pains for him.

Petry is more aggressive than Gilbert ever was, he also has a higher compete level IMO.

When you score the OT winner in a tight scoring game, you'll usually get a "star".

Reason: Lets cut out the snootiness eh?

I know this comparison's been made before, but when he rushed the puck up the ice, he looks a lot like Duncan Keith. He makes things look effortless out there, but he is prone to some horrible turnovers and soft, unnecessary plays. If he can reign it in and play smarter, he could potentially be a top pairing guy.

2 turnovers today. Yes one of which was the tying goal, but a bunch is an inaccurate description.

Any dman that plays a lot of minutes is going to make mistakes. Just the nature of the sport.
I am a huge Petry fan though. I love how active he is and how he tries to make plays. Most players on our team are quick to pass their problem to somebody else. Petry tries to get out of trouble himself and put his team-mates in easy positions.
