Cause he's undersized, isn't that good off the puck, and a defensive liability.

I'd love for him to get called back up, I think he could work well with Richards, but those things I said before, coupled with the lack of an available spot on the roster right now, make his call up difficult.

The "offensive woes" aren't that serious. NYR is 13th in the league in Goals/Game. Is Zuke a PP wiz? I don't recall him being particularly effective on the PP when he was up for an extended period last season.

Because Zuke's skills require that he be a Top 6 forward. Who do you take out of the Top 6 to put in his place? That is also why Wojtek Wolski is not in the Rangers' lineup; who comes out? That's why Torts has been trotting out the same 12 forwards barring injury.

Carl Hagelin's emergence is what likely ended Zuke's chances in New York.

He's not a Torts guy.

Torts can't trust him defensively, plain and simple. Same goes for Wolski.

How many chances did he get though? I thought he played well enough as a rookie to get a 2nd year. Only played what 2 games this year?

He doesn't help the puck possession game, which is struggling enough as it is.

If I remember correctly Zuke's scoring last season in relation to his time on ice was 3rd on the Rangers, maybe I'm wrong. It's fun to say he was only useful in the shootout, but that's simply not true. Pretty sure his +/- wasn't bad, either. Guy gave his all every shift. He did have problems getting knocked off the puck, but I'd be willing to take a chance on him and sit Dubi for a few games, Dubi is having an awful season and loses the puck on the regular.

Its absurd writing him off after his 1st season in the nhl when he has a .5 PPG player.
He playes the first 3 games of the season, 3 games where the team as a whole played like crap.
He has the highest ppg at the whale, and not givimg him a proper shot at a top6 spot in this defensively challanged team, to me, is madness.

MZA should be up here instead of Mitchell.

Because he won't be a ranger after this season (as far as I remember, he's got a 2 years conract, right?). He can get (and he will get) 3 times more money in the KHL (I take his NHL not AHL salary) and tax free.

But he could be another Marty St. Louis of the league. Pitty he came to Rangers...

He doesnt play because torts doesnt like him. In the end, i see torts and his stuborness will be the downfall of what could have been a great run for the cup...

According to MZA's stats from last season and Mitchell's stats from this season, MZA was a .5ppg player who has likely developed further in the passed year. He also averaged more hits and more SOG per game than Mitchell does.

Mitchell's been pretty damn good for us coming into a regular bottom six role, but MZA's numbers from last season are more solid by a long-shot. And that was on a team that had all kinds of difficulty putting the puck in the net.

The NYR are going to have to find some consistent scoring throughout the line-up. It will be surprising if either a move isn't made to sure up the shooters or MZA isn't given another shot on broadway.

Look at all of the teams pounding down Sather's door trying to acquire Zuccarello?

This is a first place hockey team and not having Zuccarello will be there downfall

Zuccarello has been available for a while. This is from November 27

Quote:
If anybody’s interested in hockey Hobbit Mats Zuccarello, he’s certainly available. The five-foot-six Norwegian Olympic find (2010) was passed over when the Rangers were looking for reinforcements from their farm team on Friday. They went for a Swede named Carl Hagelin, who fits more into John Tortorella’s dump-and-chase game.

The Rangers have spent most of this season looking for a defenseman and forward. They found a taker for Erik Christensen. Haven't found a taker for Zuccarello who has been hurt twice this season.

Because it's NHL where 6.6 4th liner will always worth more than 5.6 player with skill...

whose spot? Brandon Prust started in our top 6 last game. You can sit one of the following 4th liners each night: Feds, Boyle, Rupp or mitchell. Plenty of room for him.

I hate when people say this. Marty St. Louis as short as he is, is probably 3 inches taller than MZA. He also isnt knocked off the puck as easily as MZA is.

Wrong; very wrong. .5 ppg is better than most guys in your lineup tonight and he helps in the shootout. This is a no brainer. You could take Feds out of the lineup and you won't miss him at all.

Becuase he is too small to win battles along the boards and in the corners, which is demanded of all players and he is not as sound defensively.

Zuccarello is finished in Rangers. His job is to play his ass of the rest of the AHL season, and hopefully he´ll get picked up at deadline. Question is; Will the Rangers extend a QO this summer? Why would they anyway, when they obviously don´t have the use for him?

Next season he will probably play for maybe Carolina and come back to the Garden an haunt Torts

Some of his stats last year;
.55 ppg (Tied in 5th with Stepan)
9 PP assists (Tied in 1st with Gaborik and McCabe)
25:52 in TOI/point (4th, only Callahan, Gaborik and Prospal ahead of him)
