Why would Howson scout someone that didnt even play? Not mention its not enough and there's this thing called salary cap.
A deal around Bob and Schenn would work I think.

Another #3-4? If he were any better, he'd be up with the Jackets, because their defense is terrible. Or are they trying not to rush him?

Flyers do not need Nash( Personally, I'd love to see Nash with Giroux and Hartnell). but Flyers need d-men.

I'm not against acquiring Nash by any means, but we'd have to shed a TON of cap space.

He's arguably our best dman every night and plays the most.

You might do a little research before posting.... Moore has played over 40 games with the CBJ this year and has performed very well. He may, in fact, be a 3/4 and the way he's played could be more like a 2/3.

As for the scouting/trade speculation, I suspect the CBJ were looking at the Rags more than Flyers and why wouldn't Howson and Holmgren speak if they were in the same location. I'm sure they shared some tidbits and had a discussion about Jeff Carter and maybe even Rick Nash. I just don't see the Flyers and CBJ as good trade partners unless it's for depth like MacKenzie, Pahlsson, Aaron Johnson or possibly even Grant Clitsome. cheap players that could help the bottom of a lineup or provide some bench depth.

Nash and Nikitin to Philly for JVR, Gustafsson, 1st and 2nd rounder? Would that work for Columbus?

Dont want to trade Nikitin AT ALL. Not that bad in value though. We need BOB coming back, keep the picks. Not sure I trust the JVR hype.

Let's talk turkey then.

JVR, Bobrovsky and a 1st for Nash and Moore.

Nash is the last payer the Flyers should be looking at right now. We have plenty of offense as it is and we could either acquire a stud dman with the same assets that would be needed to get Nash or sign a stud dman with the money he would be paid.

Well maybe if those guys, especially Briere were playing like their contracts suggested they should play, we would be competing?

So what do you propose is a fair deal involving Nash and a defenseman to Phila?

The first step is to leave Nash out of the trade.

Well I would put Methot but he broke his jaw. Columbus D kinda sucks, and the dmen that are good, I dont want them to be traded. It makes me wonder why these two teams are "talking". If I HAD to do a proposal...you're probably wont like the dman lol..

To PHI
Johnson/Clitsome Nash

for

Jvr Bob and 1st

Yea I just cant see a deal being worked out around Nash. I honestly have no idea what Howson is gonna do. Heck, he probably even doesnt.

I understand what you're saying but this wouldn't be the first time Philly made a trade to prevent the Rangers from making one. If Jagr is leaning towards hanging up the blades after the season, Nash would be the perfect winger for Giroux longterm. It would be a Nash and defenseman package deal.

trying to work a trade with the CBJ for defensemen is like going to a VW dealer for a pickup truck.

I think Howson is looking to blow up the foundation and start from scratch. Nash doesn't want to stick around for another 4-5 year rebuild. Any rebuild would have to start by moving Nash and Carter at the very least. Columbus will build around Johansen, Moore and Yakupov or another top 2012 pick plus whatever core pieces they could get for Nash and Carter. If these changes took place by Feb 27th would Columbus fans be happy?

Out: Carter, Nash, Nikitin and Sanford

In: Kadri, Gunnarsson, JVR, Bobrovsky, Gustafsson, 1st (PHI), 1st (TOR)

That would give them a handful of young players with nice upside and 2 more 1st rounders to go with their lottery pick.

I still dont think Nash will be traded. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm leaning towards the same thing with Carter. If they trade Nash, I want a top 4 dman with top pairing potential. But the haul you put together isnt bad at all I dont think. Eerily realistic actually.

He IS up with the Jackets, has been for about 40 games, and is logging 20+ minutes a night.

He's as smooth skating as defensemen come, has a good wrist shot and decent pass, and he's 6'2" / 6'3". Savard had surpassed him last year as our best defenseman prospect, and it looks like Moore took it personally because he's trying his best to outdo Savard.
