20 Minutes of Hockey, No Way to Win a Game

The Good -

- Third period

The Bad -

- Not enough effort. Yeah, they dug deep late, but dig deep EARLY, ya' bums.
- Catching the pipe late. Crap.
- Lose one and drop to 14th? Heh.
- 0-3 against the Lightning? They make Garon look like Brodeur.

The Ugly -

- Everyone else winning tonight.

I acctually think that's good, we can catch everyone pretty quick if we keep winning but if we don't we're in a great draft spot

The offense just isn't there, and it hasn't been all season.

I would have been so excited if we'd won tonight but it's not even that big a let down, more just consigning myself to a wasted season.
I know it's the second in a back-to-back, but you can't lose to teams like Tampa and expect to make a playoff push.

And what a flawed gameplan to start the game
edit: or maybe it wasn't the gameplan, just the players being stupid. Either way, file it under Ugly

Hoff's rung up a couple of posts, sick shots but you gotta score more goals!

Ennis was too slow to get body position and if he doesn't establish that, he wont be able to fight for after the fact because he's too weak. I wasn't impressed with his game tonight, perhaps he's still not conditioned well enough for back to backs?

Not a lot going on in the attacking zone for most of that game, kind of boring.

They have made the Bolts look like defensive titans every game this year. Tampa. One of the worst defensive teams in the league. ****. Just ****.

Can't coach these guys to play a complete 60 minutes, they're going to have to want to do it themselves.

I think Ennis deserved to be in the ugly along with our current standing. I thought (along with a few of us in the chat) that he was pretty terrible the entire game.

Good:
-Third period
-Thought Leino was decent
-Pominville and Vanek
-Coverage of St. Louis and Lacavalier (mostly)

Bad:
-Second Period turnovers
-Kassian
-End of first period

Ugly
-Entire second period
-Ennis
-Powerplay attacks at the blue line

But seriously, I think Ennis played extremely awful, and it was noticable. He was very weak in the first period and even worse in the second. He seemed invisible in the third.

g:
- pommer, leino, miller
- the third period
- adam benigni wasn't half-bad in his analysis

b/u:
- too late with the effort, especially against the lightning's 1-3-1
- turnovers again lead to both goals against
- was not the best of games from myers, ennis
- we could've been 11th, six points out of 8th, two points out of 10th; instead drop to 14th

Myers wasn't good IMO. First goal is an embarrassment.

Thank goodness for this. Everybody hoping for them to keep winning and sneak into 9th forget that top 5 picks end up giving you players like Thomas Vanek for a decade.

Worst Offensive Sabre team in franchise history... We need a new system tailored to our players, not try to make our players adapt to the coaches system.

Let's be realistic. Squeezed out win against tired Dallas team and were very weak against crappy Tamba Bay. Yeah, back to back but they were home. Two of three won't do it the rest of the way folks. No way. This was a must.

If we play the next 8 like the last 8 will we get enough points? We haven't been held pointless in a game for a while now.

Do we sell now or wait it out and sell if they don't make the playoffs?

I think they could do that and not really have it affect their chances at making the playoffs at all.

No this team needs players as they are to small up front and must find big bodies who play big.

The more I think about this game, the madder I get. We could have really been back in it with a win at home here. Gutless effort. I agree. Sell now. Be the first out of the gate, you might get the most back.
