Sometimes I just can't believe that it is my NY Rangers playing the way they are. Looking at the standings again and again repeating to myself: We are number one!!! The best in the league!!! It is like a very good dream. Thank you Rangers.

54 GP - 36 W - 13 L - 5 OTL = 77 PTs

Playing 0.333 hockey the last 28 games gives us 96 points = guaranteed PO spot
Playing 0,500 hockey the last 28 games gives us 105 points = Most likely top 4 seed
Playing 0,600 hockey the last 28 games gives us 111 points = Definite top 1-2 seed
Playing at current pace of avg points the last 28 games gives us 117 points = Presidents Trophy
To catch Montreals NHL record of 132 points (1976-1977) we need to go 27-0-1... lol
Your guess is as good as mine

Thats pretty amazing when you think about it. No shootouts and 2 less games in the season back than.

At least we have some margin for error to catch Montreal.

Thought this might fit here.

Putting the Rangers' season in perspective, three of the top teams in the NHL struggled to start their seasons and have since played incredible hockey.

The Boston Bruins struggled mightily to start the season and posted a 3-7-0 record in their first 10 games. Since then they have gone 31-10-2 for 64 points in 43 games and a 0.744 points percentage (122 point season). If they continue to play at this pace they will finish the season with 113 points.

The St. Louis Blues started the season 6-7-0 and subsequently fired their coach. Since then they have gone 27-7-7 for 61 points in 41 games and a 0.744 points percentage (122 point season). If they continue to play at this pace they will finish the season with 115 points.

The New York Rangers started the season 3-3-3 and played inexplicably bad during this stretch. Since then they have gone 33-10-2 for 68 points in 45 games and a 0.756 points percentage (124 point season). If they continue to play at this pace they will finish the season with 119 points.

Barring injury, first seed.

However, since we don't dominate, we are still subject to hot goalie, etc. in a short series.

I like our chances overall, but we simply must have the right sniper, admit it or not, like it or not, even at the cost of certain (not any and all) D

I see no reason why the 1st or 2nd seed is unreasonable. Tonight should be a good indicator of which. Barring some sort of total meltdown, we've got the home ice advantage.
