Of course I group them in the same region, it's just not America.
well, logically I have deduced this region you speak of is the Caribbean....so wait, are you seriously counting the US as a Caribbean country? LMAO ...so when you said that baseball was just 1 region + 2 countries and you were solely referring to the Caribbean, that also meant you were counting Canada IN the Caribbean I gotta admit , I've gotten more than a few laughs in this thread thanks to you

LOL dude, Denmark and Norway are virtually right next to each other, they share a similar history, similar peoples, and are in regional terms similar from geographic location to culture, how in the hell can you say the same for the US and Venezuela when the US doesn't even touch the Caribbean Sea lols

I argue against using continents and there is a variance in how many there are (meaning using them doesn't even amount to anything conclusive).
going around in circles, your excuse was that continents wasn't even an agreed upon concept in count and social thinking, yet you're gonna argue for using "regions" , lols get the f outta here with that bs man hahaha

just a little update, after going through the soccer (football) forum, made me of course think of this thread...
here is Spain's current status on what arguably are the planet's 2 most popular sports:
Soccer: (1st team to win 3 major titles in a row)
Current World Cup champs
Current European champs (repeat)
Current European U-21 champs
Current European U-19 champs (repeat)
Basketball:
Current Eurobasket champs (repeat)
Current Eurobasket U20 champs
Current Eurobasket U18 champs
also:
Tennis:
Current Davis Cup champ
3 players in top 10 for men
makes me think like holy crap is there a widespread epidemic of banned substance abuse through all of Spanish sports institutions? lols how the heck!!!!
@Panteras: You are missing Fernando Alonso in that list, who is currently leading the Championship driving an underwhelming (ok, a piece of crap but improving nonetheless) Ferrari.
makes me think like holy crap is there a widespread epidemic of banned substance abuse through all of Spanish sports institutions? lols how the heck!!!!
In short, yes. Spain is the international destination for doping. Fuentes and del Moral were behind two of the biggest substance abuse scandals. The Spanish Minister for Sport acknowledged the country has a doping problem.
Of course, athletes outside of Spain likely benefited just as much from the Spanish expertise in this field, and it's debatable how much of the collective Spanish success can be attributed to it.

well my comment was meant to be a joke more than anything , but to say that you're making a pretty brazenly overwhelming assumption is an understatement... Although quite frankly I'm not surprised coming from a Rafa hater who's excuse for this hate includes because Rafa drives an Austin Martin lolsss

Where did I say I hate him because he drives an Aston Martin? I hate him - in small part - because he pretends to be humble when he drives an Aston Martin, not because he's fabulously wealthy. I don't remember saying a word about Rafa in the post you quoted either, and for you to imply it was about him is itself a ridiculous assumption.
As I said, Spanish doctors have been at the center of at least two high profile doping cases, and in the case of Fuentes, the Spanish authorities did a remarkable job sweeping the fallout under the rug. There is evidence that athletes from outside Spain go there to get treatment from these doctors.

are you laughing so hard at the fact that you're trying your hardest to make it seem like these 2 statements are so different? Or is it the fact that you just realized what a lame and completely laughable reasoning it is to think he's not humble because he bought himself a sports car?....wait wait , I got it, you're laughing really hard at your statement that Nadal wasn't humble because he wears the Richard Mille watch when he plays now..that..my friends, is funny, hater much?
let me guess who's humble? Federer, he sure is driving an SLS AMG and wearing Rolex watches

so what, look at how many cases of doping are here in the states, does that now mean that the US's most likely success at the Olympics (always finishes top 3) will be marred because of Floyd Landis or Barry Bonds? Surely American athletes have had more cases of doping than Spain, or perhaps any other country...doping happens everywhere...
I love how you're making it seem like Spain's this "hotbed" for doping? Wtf? Never heard of this...athletes from all over go to Spain to get treatments? huh? Can you please indulge me, and I mean this honestly, because I'm not aware of this "fame" to be quite honest...
a doping story from what I presume is where you're from, so you can see it happens everywhere...and btw, everyone knows of the notorious East German doping:
That's a woman btw ^^ even though "he/she's" had sexual reassignment surgery, a European champion in Athletics btw..thanks to massive doping
yeah Spain had those cyclist, but other than that I have not heard of anything other than the French cartoons about Nadal and Alonso or whatever...I'm sure you take those seriously lolss

That's true panteras, Spain has a reputation of a doping paradise.

I never said Federer was humble. He certainly isn't. I don't value humility that much in athletes, but it does bother me when they feign it in so abject and extreme a way as Nadal does. There are good reasons why Nadal is derisively known as Humbalito: namely, his ridiculous statements to the press vastly understating his own chances to win matches and the fact he can barely look his victorious opponents in the eye after a match he seems so affronted. The car and the watch are just one small part of why he's fake.
No, I was laughing at "Austin Martin" and the fact you decided to make an unrelated and untrue ad hominem instead of addressing my point.

Oh wow, you mention East Germany. Why am I not surprised? No, I most certainly am not from East Germany. In fact, East Germany ceased to exist shortly after I was born.
I didn't say the doping would mar all Spanish success. In fact, I was quick to qualify that we won't know how widespread doping is and was among Spanish athletes and the clients of Fuentes, because the Spanish police decided to destroy the evidence relating to the matter. A huge chunk of the cycling world was implicated in Fuentes' operation, but Fuentes himself insisted that only about 30% of his clients were cyclists. It was probably the biggest doping scandal of the past decade, and only a fraction of it (the cyclists of course) came to light.
The doctor for the old USPS team was Spanish, and as such, Landis among other American cyclists likely received treatment from him.
And no, of course the cartoons aren't the only insinuation of substance abuse by Nadal. He was rumored to be connected to Fuentes, but of course nothing came of that. The only "evidence" of his abuse is extremely tenuous: his great endurance, his ability to recover quickly and run like a rabbit after apparently suffering injuries , his indignant attitude toward drug testing and insistence that it would be impossible for any top athletes to dope with all the scrutiny, and the extreme ease with which any tennis player could beat the ridiculously soft drug testing and the inclination of the ATP to cover up positive tests (as they did in the past). It's not much. I try not to think about it.

You're failing to connect the dots...the reason why I brought up Nadal was because I'm not surprised that you think Spain is the destination for doping () and that it's widespread through Spanish sports ranks, since you use the lamest excuses to hate on Nadal...thus why, again, it doesn't surprise me how you use such lame straw man arguments such as "A Spanish doctor might have treated Landis with steroids=Spain is the destination for doping athletes"
with such bad and lame reasoning, one can only deduce that you're simply jealous or butthurt at Spanish succcess through sports, one being Nadal ...I mean I just can't fathom how anyone could come up with such unfounded rhetoric and ridiculous buffoonish deductions to hate on Nadal...which I can understand, Nadal is Federer's nemesis, and Federer is Swiss-Germanic, logically you would pull for him, nothing wrong with that I'd support Federer if I was in your shoes...but I'd give credit where it's due and not foam at the mouth with ridiculous and bizarre allegations
and Humbalito? Really? Who uses this? You and your federerfaboys.com club? Or is it the nadalsucks.org group? get real man
you're grasping at straws once again, this is so lame, because he vastly understates his chances of winning a match? really dude? this is the best you can do? again my theory proves correct, you're making things up that are simply not there...
I guess the academy in India is all a cover up as well.....lolsss

I have heard that there might have been a cover up, or rather that the Spanish police didn't pursue certain athletes...but that they destroyed evidence??? never heard of this...as for the rest of the athletes, these are pure allegations about footballers for example..as matter of fact Barcelona won a case against unfounded allegations against some newspaper or something, forgot now...doesn't surprise me though, when you're so successful people will find any way to stain it

Ok? So another allegation....wanna hear about something that's not alleged? Talk about Jan Ullrich....oh oh, Jan Ullrich took steroids="in short doping is widespread through German sports"...

So petty. No, I understood your pathetic argument. If DM can hate Nadal (again, in small part) for being a fake, then everything else he says is invalid. I don't know why I should bother arguing with you about a sport which you admittedly don't follow closely at all.

Again, pathetic. If you actually read the tennis threads (since you seem to understand my hatred of Nadal so clearly) you'd know I despise nationalism in tennis. My love of Federer has nothing to do with his nationality or native language. There are plenty of Swiss, German, Austrian, and Luxembourgian players I hate. I've never written anything bad about any Spanish athletes here other than Nadal and Verdasco. It's pretty stupid in a sport like tennis where the athletes are playing for themselves to choose one's favorites because of their nationality.

They destroyed evidence after the prosecution of Fuentes was over because they decided it wasn't necessary to pursue his clients.

That's a fact. Del Moral was team doctor for the USPS from 1999-2003, he was filmed disposing of the team's medical waste in 2000 (which roused a lot of suspicion), and he has now been banned from the sport because of his violations during that time. Seriously, think for a moment before you post.

you use weak argument against Nadal, and you use weak argument against Spain, it's pretty simply deductive reasoning to reach my conclusion dude....

again, you can say all of that in your defense...after all I realize that my position cannot be proven, but again, I've only applied reasonable deductive thinking, as I said I see no other viable option for your hate....I just don't understand it..

lol you sir must be thankful of google, after all it's hilarious how your previous post was just that this doctor "likely" treated Landis..... now of course you seem to have written this article:

No, you really haven't. You don't have to understand it either. There's nothing "reasonable" about liking or disliking any athlete. It can't be deductively proven that Nadal's humility is fake. Nor did I ever say it could. It's not any more reasonable to like Nadal because he's Spanish. Just think about it for a moment.

I guess "someone" has higher esteem for your intelligence than I do. The fact they had evidence and buried it is effectively destroying it. That's what I meant at least.
If you really want to find out why people feel Nadal's a fake, I suggest you do a simple Google search of your own and find it. Better yet, watch some of his press conferences sometime.

Track and field and Swimming are world wide sports you can consider when picking the best sporting nation though
mehhh, I guess your comment can be argued for and against....there are some countries that have great track athletes (Jamaica), yet they're pretty non-existent everywhere else...or an awesome sporting nation like China who is always on top there in the Olympic standings, yet if I'm not mistaken they aren't really successful in track and field or swimming...

they're more than capable, not just because of their culture, but because only India can even come close to matching their sample size, and they also have all the infrastructure needed, having been I can attest to this

Maybe add a few more "lulz" and your argument will make sense. Why don't you like cokeheads and leftists? Being "reasonable" or better yet "rational" only gets so far in explaining what you do and don't like. And we were only talking about (one aspect of) Nadal's personality.

Yup, only Federer fans could dislike Nadal. My dislike for Nadal has little to do with him being Federer's "nemesis." I don't dislike anyone else who has challenged Fed's dominance or beaten him in a slam.

No, they're not improbable. It's a fact that he should get a time violation almost every point. It's a fact that he gets regular illicit on-court coaching from Uncle Toni. It's a fact that he often has taken extended medical timeouts when losing matches, and it's a reasonable inference that he does this to stem his opponent's momentum. It's a fact that he regularly issues injury reports after losses, and it's a reasonable inference that he does this to excuse the result. It's a fact that even though other players - some of whom I like - engage in some of these tactics, Nadal initiated them, made them accepted practice, and unlike say Djokovic never attempted to curb them at all. That's why I dislike him, beside the fact that I find his game ugly, but my dislike of him is ultimately an emotional decision. It's not rational to like or dislike anything for any "reason."

Classifying the evidence? Is that what they call it in Spain? They must be extraordinarily inefficient if they're still classifying it after five years.

There are plenty of people who hate both, hate neither, or hate one regardless of the other. I fit in the latter category.

it's called plagiarism, look it up
You think I plagiarized? I just can't. This thread isn't really about Nadal's character, so I won't respond further. Go ahead, the last word in this exchange is yours. Issue as many "lulz" and inaccurate representations of my positions as you like.

indeed the human quality of "liking" is very subjective...nevertheless, that doesn't mean that rationality can't be attached to it...you ask why won't someone like a leftist? Well, perhaps that person is from North Korea and suffered hardships under a leftist dictatorship, that's reasonable enough, and factual, unlike the nonfactual allegation that Nadal fakes his humility backed up by the most questionable of excuses = he bought a sports car and wears a pricy watch for promotion...
you said earlier that there is nothing reasonable about disliking or liking an athlete, and you know very well that's just a false statement, since I can see that you most certainly feel that you have reasonable excuses to dislike Nadal. Albeit, you have admitted that at least the one reason to dislike Nadal because of faking his humility is unreasonable.

Come on deficient, try a little harder, there's no other reason to dislike other players because 1) correct me if I'm wrong, don't have a winning record against Roger and 2) haven't denied Federer so many GS Finals victories.
I mean anyone, can look from the outside and say...ok, lets see who person X is going to dislike most if person X is fan of athlete A, and athlete A has lost 6 of 8 finals to player B; and...well...who else has Federer lost a final to??

Actually, even though I still think you're being terribly biased and talking a lot of BS , these are far better reasons to dislike Nadal than your excuse of his "faked humility" and your reasoning behind it...
you know, its funny that the only player to win the Edberg award since 2004 other than class act Federer is Nadal, and you should know how important that award is regarding how Nadal is actually viewed, specially by the people that matter most in the sport and who know the dynamics better than anyone, the players themselves proven by the fact that not just "top" players win that award..not to mention Nadal's also won the Ashe award...
Atheles who train, compete or play professional Sports in America shouldn't be allowed to play under another nations banner.
Also China doesn't count in olympics they put most of their athletes through slavery. Weren't they docturing the ages of the gymnasts in the last Olympics?

That's a bit extreme, but there's no doubt the U.S. (in partcular the NCAA) affords many foreign athletes the opportunity to train and compete at the highest level-opportunities not available at home.

I don't even believe it I just wanted to see a few peoples reaction to the argument.
