Samson looked way better than Bowman. I knew he'd get sent back down and Samson has earned the recall with his goals with Charlotte since he was sent back.
Give him Bowman's 2nd line spot. He played very well in his 3 games up here.
Agreed. Give the kids their opportunities, see if they sink of swim with it. Although hopefully Samson does swimmingly to help out Jokinen and Skinner, because they need to be a positive factor on the score and not a negative one.
Although I'm ecstatic that Samson is back up so quickly after what he showed last time he was up, I'm still somewhat curious how we're going to fit in all the prospects for the remainder of this year that have a shot at sticking for next year. With Boychuk being less productive in Charlotte than we would like, I don't know where he fits in line. Plus, we need to get Dadonov up here at some point, along with another shot for Dalpe probably.
Should we break a pool cue in half among a few of them, throw it their way, and have tryouts that way? Or would 2-4 games for each of them suffice, alternating between a few players here and there?

Ryan McDonagh went down hard in the NYR-WAS game - no one even hit him, maybe twisted a knee or popped an ACL/MCL type thing? If true and he's out - Ruutu to Rangers?

Do you mean "not enough?" Or was it your feeling that he'd stick?
Personally, I haven't seen anything from the Checkers that would put them on the team, except maybe the 4th line. And the 4th line right now is a relative strength, IMO.

I meant "the Canes staff has probably seen enough to make a judgement on Bowman". He's not playing many minutes, which MAY be telling?
This move was less about Bowman, who is NHL ready for at least SOME capacity, and more about the fact that Samson left the lineup not only playing very strong hockey but due to injury and not merit. At some point it was obvious that if Bowman slowed down a step that Samson was coming back to reclaim that spot. A lot of coaches like to say that it's impossible to lose a spot due to injury, to make sure that players value playing healthy as much as the coaches, and this seems like a representation of that.
My ideal 3rd line next year would be Tlusty - Sutter - Bowman in regards to what we currently have in house. Bowman's willingness to hit and his improved defensive game have made up for a lack of offensive development but the skills are still there. In that way, his similarity to Tlusty is pretty remarkable. Whereas with with Boychuk, who has never embraced that side of the puck, we see which is more likely to get you advanced through the system in lieu of overwhelming production in the AHL. I still hold out hope that Dalpe will be prepared for Top 6 minutes next season but the prospect is looking more and more unlikely. There seems to be something minor missing in his game that evades my perception. I always like him during games but never really see his production match that positive impression.
I understand Bowman being recalled if Ruutu's hurt, but the fact that Samson got sent down makes me think there might be a trade in the works... Especially since Bowman didn't do ANYTHING last time he was up...
Or because Samson is from Quebec, they were just throwing him a bone by letting him play in Montreal? Probably not, but I really can't understand the musical chairs on this one, doesn't matter that much though.
