with the way our D played, could Hjammer be dealt to move his contract for offensiv depth? could he return us a Top6 player to play on the 3rd Line?

If Bowman was forward thinking, maybe he would have traded for Kubina and Grossman and dealt Hammer for a center, then signed Suter while retaining at least one of Grossman/Kubina. We don't have Homer though.

Bowman isn't that much of a risk taker. If a move is made look for it to be a for a player like Brian Lee from Ottawa.

I hope not he's another 3rd pairing defensemen. We already have too many of them.

He definately would get you a top 6 forward but i think we need him. You can never have enough D come playoff time and he is fearless out there and probably our best pk D. I don't want to move him.

One player I don't think we have mentioned is Jeff Carter. I do not like his contract at all and it's just like the deal Hossa has and pretty much the same cap hit. That's the only good part is that it is cap friendly at approx 5.2 when you see the money that is getting thrown around last off-season for very marginal players. Then there are talks that Grabo is gonna get 5 mill?? His no trade clause has been lifted so we could possibly be able to move him or if Bolland doesn't get resigned we still have a good number 2-3 C and one of our kids will be more then ready by then to step in. Then gave up Voracek and a 1st that became Couturier so it would probably cost us McNeil and another top prospect or maybe Stalberg......any thoughts??

I would prefer Grabo over Carter to be honest, for now and after he signs a new contract.

Also, word is Bowman was never really in on Kubina as he believes he can get another Dman that fits us better.

Can't say that Stan hasn't tried his best. So far, both Grossman and Kubina were traded for something more that we could offer without giving up a 1st.

really thinking forward.... what if Suter just resigns? Right, he would have been ****ed because he traded Hjammer away without any chance to replace him.

If we get Schenn, I'd trade Hjammer for a guy like Carle. Philly get a signed DMan and we get a guy for now and the CapSpace for next year.

In my proposal, we added Schenn and Carle for Hjammer, McNeill + something other not playing on our Roster

tell me how that makes us worse overall and on D?

I think I would be pretty happy with Burish as the only acquisition if the prices for D men are too much. See if we get hot with a couple young guys and go from there. A bottom 6 of- Bickell,Bolland,Hayes,Burish,Mayers would be pretty decent. Would look better if Carcillo was still in there though.

Yes, lets move one of our top-4 Dmen to bring in 2 bottom-pairing Dmen and then hope that we can not only retain one of them, but that we can sign Suter aswell. It's not even clear it Suter will be a UFA on July 1st.

I agree that Burish would be a nice pickup, but what's your guesstimates on what Dallas would want for him?

Burish wouldn't cost much. I'd rather just re-sign him during the offseason now that we've got the cap space. He's another guy like Mayers with a defined bottom-six role.

Is Mayers confirmed to come back? Guy's going to be 38. He skates like a younger man, but he can't have too many years left in the tank.

I'd be down with Burish coming back in any capacity and I think a 5th is about as much as the hawks should offer for him. It sucks that the defensemen market is going to be so costly, despite that Olsen/LePisto have had their positives.

Mayers is not 41. You mean O'Donnell perhaps?

And Mayers should certainly be re-signed. He's arguably been Bowman's best UFA signing thus far.

Why do people keep complaining about Grossman not being acquired?

The Stars wanted Saad ,,, Saad!!!!!

For a upcoming UFA bottom pairing dman

If Mayers wants to come back, he should definately be resigned. He's been a very good addition. One of the few "old guys" that actually fits in with the rest of the group.

Keep Mayers or Burish. We don't need both.

Carcillo/Mayers/Burish 4th line sounds good and not bad skill at all.

What do you mean? We NEED both...do you see any hits/agitators from our guys? Scott and Mayers are the only 2.

Bickell-Mayers-Burish OR bring back Carcillo as well Carcillo-Mayers-Burish
