Watching the game again and you have to be impressed with the Rangers game at this point. They are in a very nice zone right now. Playing with tremendous confidence and poise. Making crisp passes that lead to bang bang goals. Spreading teams out on both sides of the puck. I saw something I liked with every forward line today.

The fore check was solid.
Great puck possesion in the caps zone.
Dubi looked like Dubi.
Boyle falling down like usual, but winning face offs. He looks better there. I can't help but love a guy that works that HARD.
Gaborick was a menace all afternoon.
Richards is looking like the guy we wanted here.
The D Corps all looked solid. Girardi is the best unsung D man in the game right now. McDonagh continues to surprise/amaze. I love what Del Zotto is doing. Stralman is blowing my mind. Staal is still...off. Just a matter of time w/him.
Henrick is....well, you know. It just goes on and on.

They ran out of gas a bit in the 3rd. But still, a very solid two games for team that looks very much like they deserve the record they have.

I agree...the third certainly wasn't perfect, but hey, they played yesterday.
There should be more b2b in the playoffs. This team dominates them

Was very impressed with all of the forwards today. I thought they all had solid games. Richie's been getting better of late too. The OT goal did wonders for him.

All due respect....not happening, imo.

What they would get back for these guys would not approach the value and potential both guys bring to the the team.

Ani for all the well deserved scrutiny here, is still one of the more skilled guys on the team. He can make plays. Good both ways. I think people forget he's just 23.

Dubi is having his first off season...but he'll get it back o track. He's a perfect fit for the playoff environment where you will need a guy with size that can skate, bang and make plays. He'll do all that and more.

I just don't see it happening.

Dubinsky's best game of the season. Richards, Callahan, Stralman, Hagelin, Gaborik, Anisimov, McDonagh, Girardi all played great.

Without Backstrom, the Caps are a joke. Ovechkin is so simple to figure out. Girardi has taking him out of the game figured out like a science.

One of my favourite moments of the game was Ovechkin storming down the left side, entering the zone and seeing Girardi approaching. Ovi slowed right down, looked confused and was consequently stripped off the puck by a backchecking Boyle who started an attack the other way. So simple!

Yeah, even the broadcasters were talking about how he is underrated. It's true he doesn't have the quickest release in the game. But he's not afraid to take the puck to the net...and he has been heating up lately. Again, I think people are quick to dismiss any guy who is not lighting up the score sheet every night, even though they bring other facets to the game.

P.S. What's with the 'ricks'? lol

My favorite was when Ovie went after a rebound Hank had at the same time Danny G. and Cally wacked him...

Because teams have figured him out. He's one of the most selfish players in the league and still hasn't figured out that hockey is a team game.

Have a tape of Howie's radio calls from '94 playoffs, incredible, he blew Marv Albert away, because Marv was saving his voice for the Knicks, instead of the hockey team he broadcasted for, for 29 years...

How soon people forget. (Or are just too young to remember.) Howie Rose is the voice of "Matteau! Matteau! Stephane Matteau!! And the Rangers have one more hill to climb, baby...Mt Vancouver!"

Been a Ranger fan for 47 years and still the best radio call I ever heard, if you listened to him you could picture every play in your mind, even listening on the radio...

Howie doesn't sound very enthusiastic when announcing for the Isles.

Probably because he likes the Rangers...

And there's not much to be enthusiastic about in the Island, besides another lottery pick.

"Puck goes behind the net...Matteau swoops in...out in front...", and the rest is history...still gives me chills. He captured the excitement, and the pure emotional release of that moment.

Been a Ranger fan since my first game on January 8th, 1962 - back then they had only one goalie, I remember Johnny Bower got hit in the face and opened up all over the ice. They stopped the game for 15 minutes while he got stitched up, then resumes. Halfway through the third, the stitches opened up, so back in the locker room for 15 minutes. He finished the game. Been hooked on hockey ever since. Used to sit in Section 228, seats E1 and 2 at the Garden. Where did you sit?

BTW, I would love Howie Rose.

That's probably one of the better DEMO's someone could have in their resume'. Just a classic of classic calls. He'd do a great job. No question.

Time marches on, but Sam still has a ways to go.

I didn't listen to him when he was with the Rangers, but the Matteau call was epic. That said, I don't like him with the Islanders, maybe it's because I hate the Islanders but I think Sam is a lot better.

Didn't Howie get caught on tape a year or two ago asking when baseball starts and complaining about how he doesn't like the Islanders?

ODC is actually Torts. He spent so much time trying to convince us to hate himself so that when the team started doing so good, it'd feel awesome. He doesn't have time to post now that his team is 1st in the East.
