Calgary has to add a forward or 2

They just lost Backlund for a month, they now have 5 regular forwards out (Backlund, Jones, Glencross, Moss and Stempniak) and I don't believe any of them are close to returning.

Considering Feaster has gone all-in on this season it seems only logical to assume something will happen.

The truth is we are really beat up but the majority of the injuries are suppose to end a week or so after the deadline we will most likely be looking for some one like Chris Kelly who can play on the top two lines if needed but is comfortable on the lower lines as well. The most likely deal is a team looking for defensive depth trades as a Kelly like play for Sarich or Babchuck.

Trading Brendan Morrison for an AHL defensman looks pretty stupid now doesn't it?

Does Dan Cleary fit the bill? Detroit will send him to you for a D prospect.

Flames really need guys like Stajan to step up. He looked decent at times against the Canucks on Saturday. They should not be trading assets for rentals, it's time Calgary started being honest with themselves and did a mini rebuild before Iginla and Kipper (he was unreal on Saturday) get too old or too fed up.

Penner is not worth a 2nd alone.

Doubt Flames add much. They are a team currently in 9th, and even if they trade for a spark plug and get in, facing Detroit or Vancouver in the first round isn't worth over spending at the deadline for.

And most teams who add something good at the deadline over spend.

There are lots of players available that won't require a player going the other way. Not sure on Calgary's cap situation though and how long those players will be on the IR.

Waivers is a strong possibility to add a healthy body.

This is the drawback of not being able to be in 'coast mode' down the stretch.

Injuries that will result in more injuries due to players playing in roles they aren't accustomed to.

"All in?" When Roman Horak is your 2nd line center, just how far did you plan on going?

My God, what more does Feaster need to finally get the point that this team isn't a playoff team right now.

Reality and the hockey Gods keep smacking him across the face with the facts while he continues to hold out hope of squeezing in for two home games against Detroit.

This is so much like the Ferguson era in Toronto it's scary. Sundin, Iginla. Almost making it in. False hope each year for the fans.

Feaster got hired because of that mentality. It's not just him. The owners are not interested in tanking ala Edmonton.

I don't see how they acquire a single forward with the cupboard bare and not wanting to move a single asset on the team. What is there to offer anyone?

if Smith comes back soon, I imagine they could swap Sarich for a UFA forward.

Which one are you referring to that suddenly makes that top six stronger? There aren't many UFA forwards available that Sarich moving out brings in.

Maybe not, considering Morrison has played like an AHL center.

Only scenario I see the Flames making a deal is either a Sarich for a struggling UFA with a high cap hit, or a bigger deal to get a younger top 6 RW in. What would have to be given upbfor the best latter is beyond me.

Are Connolly and Lombardi really on the same level nowadays?

I didn't think either of them were worth a 2nd, let alone adding another piece.
