I'd take Chara at 4.6M over Pronger at 10M. Taking salary out of the equation, Pronger.

Money not being an issue, easily Chris Pronger.

I think he's the best defenseman in the NHL.

Yep.He's actually much better than Chara, not that the big Slovak isn't good but Pronger can control a game and Zdeno can't.Pronger's the pick here .

I agree with that. Although, if my team could afford to take Pronger at 10m, I'd take him over Chara considering salary, too.

I think Chara can definately control a game. He's capable of shutting down the other teams best players and adding offense, just like Pronger.

That being said, Pronger is an elite defenseman. Chara's not quite there yet.

I'd say thats false because Chara can and has controlled games before. Particularly in the offensive zone when he pinches in...you can't stop him.

I never understood why Martin didn't use him more in front of the net on the PP. Almost everytime he was there, they would score.

Because he is much better than the alternative on the #2 PP point, so the shots he would be screening arent as good. Plus he picked up a pretty big slap-shot over the summer (last year).

Yeah, I understand that, but there are other alternatives for the 2nd PP unit.

I dont know, before we got Bondra and after we lost him, our point men on the PP would be Pothier and Phillips (not too impressive) if Chara was infron of the net, IMO we could better use him on the point.

Hmmm..not to me but i guess it's what you like.I just think Pronger's all around game is better than Chara's a little bit.Better skater, nice positioning, better all around pp guy imo, better outlet passer and of course he's huge also.Sure,no-one can handle big z when he comes to the net but that's just one aspect.I think anyone could say Chara's just as good or better i guess but not me.I find when Pronger's on his game he controls the flow of the game better than" z".When Prongers in the zone the coaches cringe when he has to go off the ice to rest,he's that important and good.First d man since number 4# to win a hart.Granted,it was a dom perignon type of year but he's just great and had a dandy year last year too. He's my pick.

Without salary in consideration, Pronger easily for me. With salary, it would be a hard choice and would be based on the rest of my team. Let's not forget that both have had injury problems in the past also.
