With the new Christian Hanson signing:

Forwards
Bourque - Camper - Tardif
Sauve - Spooner - Knight
Florek - Hanson - Randell
MacDermid - Whitfield - MacDonald
Cunningham

Defensemen
Bartkowski - Trotman
Krug - Miller
Cross - Warsofsky
Button - Cohen

Goaltenders
Hutchinson
Svedberg

Observations:
This looks like a very good line-up.

Strong down the middle.

Defense should also be strong. Finally we have a defense consisting of genuine, talented Bruins prospects.

Left wing should be OK.

Right wing is relatively thin.

Goaltending is a question mark but could be good.

Sauve - Spooner - Knight should be dynamic. Blazing speed.

MacDonald is the only player listed without a contract. Will he get one?

Looks good on paper

Quick thoughts
Randell too slow for 3rd line duty, actually he's too slow period but I'm not the coach

Imo Cunningham needs to play top 6 minutes, he won't be a healthy scratch

I'd like to see Florek Hanson Knight

switch Warsofsky with Trotman and I think that's the defense to start

Good competition in goal as well

Thanks SE. I think you will have an enjoyable season at the games.

Who would Cunningham replace in the top 6?

Florek - Hanson - Knight could be a tough line. If Knight plays with them where would Randell play?

With 8 defensemen the B's are going to need an ECHL affiliate and their former team the Reading Royals just signed up with the Capitals to be their sole affiliate I believe.

Any guesses where the B's new ECHL affiliation will be? Washington vacated South Carolina and left them with no affiliation, and the team in Fort Wayne, IN is without an affiliation as well. The other teams with no affiliation are too far west to be feasible for the Bruins.

The B's could also jump in as a split affiliate as they were with Reading, but I think maybe they'd prefer to be the sole affiliate somewhere.

I'd go with these lines:

Defensemen

Krug - Miller
Cross - Warsofsky
Button - Cohen

Goaltenders
Hutchinson
Svedberg
I'd leave MacDonald out. He's not good, time to move on. Sign another AHL vet/grinder/scrapper for that 13th spot.

I'd really like to see Button get some time this year. It's going to be a logjam on the blueline barring injuries of course.

Tardif has one more year, then is an UFA.

All the Bruins contracts are here: http://www.capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=5

A few thoughts:

-I wouldn't move Cunningham out of the top 6 if at all possible. He led the team in goals last year--his rookie season--and, depsite his lack of size, seems to be a durable, strong player who is a very good skater as well.

-Re Hanson signing...I don't see him as a top 6 guy, even at the AHL level. He put up 21 points (in 52 games) for a powerhouse Hershey team last year. He's big, but if you have guys like Knight and Cunningham on the RW already with Spooner and Camper as your top 2 C, I'd have them on top lines and have Hanson work to earn a promotion.

-If you are of the belief that each line needs to have a bigger player on it, then Providence is actually in good shape this year with Florek/Hanson/maybe MacDermid available.

-As I mentioned in a previous post, I'd like to see an experienced D man signed. On one of the hockey fight boards, a poster mentioned that Garnet Exelby is a camp invite, but who knows...

I remember Burke yakkin about this guy when he signed him out of College with loads of his usual pomp and circumstance............nice one Brian, looks like a solid career AHL kind of guy without a lick of a chance to find a home in the NHL full time and I`m ok with that, every affiliate needs players like this

I'd bring back Sean Curry to fit that role
Would like to see at least one more hired gun forward as well

Sooner and Knight need to have their own reality TV show.

Lol no argument here

But ya, not only should knight flank spooner, he should be in a top 6 role in providence without question

Hershey Bears fan here wanting to know some information on Hamil. What are his strengths and weaknesses and do you guys think a change of scenery for him will do him good?

He's pretty weak and not a very Fast skater

He has decent hands and decent passing instincts

IF, and it's a large if, he works on his strength and two way ability, I could see him being a serviceable 3rd line center good for 30-40 points

I don't want to write him off, but he yet to make any progress in his time with the AHL, he actually looked decent here and there up with Boston, but got out muscled a lot

Being an optimist, I'd say don't write him off and just see how he does this year

Not the best skater but doesn't look out of place in the NHL. Has good hands and vision. Still needs to bulk up a lot to compete nightly in NHL. I think he has NHL skills hopefully he'll blossom for the Bears.

Look like that Exelby tip from the hockeyfights board was right. An upgrade from McIver for sure...or does he make Boston as the 7th D?

Good question. He hasn't been in the NHL for the past two seasons.

And put two Lefties on the 1st pair?

I would not be surprised to see the RH Trotman with one of the Lefty waterbugs, Krug or Warsofsky.
