If Torts can get him going away from the puck then he is going to be a stud.

Unfortunately from the dozen or so times i've watched him over the past 2 years he loves to just stand around waiting for the play to come to him way too often. Thats really the only negative I can find on him, but kinda a big one, thankfully can easily be corrected with good coaching.

He should not jump right into the fire this year. I agree with the posters who said he should go to HFD. That would be perfect IMO.

“I’ll sit down with Chris at the end of our season,” said York, the Eagles’ coach for the last 18 years. “The question I always ask top prospects in his situation is, ‘Do you want to finish your collegiate career with the teammates in your graduating class?’ That’s a big deal for many college players.”
Granted, there is always that possibility, but with his classes all done, what would he do with the time that he has not going to classes and playing only 2 games a week?

I don't see this guy staying there for an empty year of schooling just to play the game for BC

York has discussed "1 more year" in regards to Kreider.

Quote:
Instead, Kreider decided to work further toward his college degree and, in doing so, has become one of the most dominant players in Hockey East.

“He was trying to do what he felt was best for him when he combined the academic goals of getting a college degree with his aspirations of being an NHL player,” said York. “He looked at both situations and one more year of college hockey where he could become a more dominant player while getting a year closer to a degree, that was something he was very well aware of.”

1 more year is this season.

Kreider's class? The Canes expect/believe Brian Dumoulin to turn pro after this season.

Core of Carolina's future defense set now: Dumoulin, Faulk, Gleason, McBain, Murphy. Figure Dumoulin signs after BC's season ends.

If he's set to graduate can he even go back for another year? Like if literally all his classes are done would the school let him hang around or force him to graduate. And I'm pretty sure once he graduates he can't keep playing

Carolina actually has the makings of pretty nice D group. It's not as strong defensively as the Rangers, but, it likely has more offensive upside.

Kreider's buddies Jimmy Hayes and Cam Atkinson left BC after their junior years last spring. They attended summer school last summer to continue the process of getting their degrees.

I have seen this kid play twice. Once live (Beanpot tournament 2010) and this past Friday night on NBC Sports VS. The University of Vermont. I was so surprised that there was no thread about people watching this game?

He is an impressive specimen. What jumps out at you is the unbelievable speed in a body that big. He has the chance to be a very, very good NHL player.

that being said, I watched every shift on Friday night very closely and have to agree with Badgerfan. Too much standing around and gliding when he doesn't have the puck in the offensive zone. But, I think this is a habit that is easily fixed and torts is the one who can fix it!

I will keep praying that they do not trade him! A 6'3" 230lb power forward who skates like Hagelin? Holy S--T!

Oops...my bad...I somehow connected your post to the post concerned about Kreider rooting for the Bruins last year, (the one right above yours). Heads not in the game this morning.

Neither do I. Can't see him hanging around simply to play 2 hockey games a week after he's graduated.

I've been watching Kreider a bit lately when he's on . I personally think the problem away from the puck stems from the slow speed the puck moves through all 3 zones . Kreider is not responsible fo the play of the other 4 guys on the ice . He played the pro game at the Worlds the last 2 springs and fit in . His limit will be limitless once he is with PRO players playing the pro game with the puck moving through the zones the way it does in the NHL.
I expect at the minimum a faster version of Max Patches . In 3-4 years barring injury he could very well put up some impressive goal scoring numbers as he has the body of a guy like Corey Perry with the speed of a Gaborik . Not sure how good his mitts are but he appears to shoot the puck pretty well .

i'm pretty sure that if he has enough credits to graduate, the only way he could play a fourth year (not his senior year) would be if he went to grad school at bc. there's roughly a 0% chance he won't go pro after the eagles season is over.

If Torts believes he is the missing piece that gets over the top then bring him in this spring. if not, then hartford.

We've gotten like 10 posts this passed year frmo people who actually have watched Kreider play say that the talent is there, but the guy floats a lot, and/or goes long stretches standing around or not involved in the game. We have seemingly hundreds of fans talk about him being a first year 30/30 all-star. There is a major disconnect going on with the fanbase over this guy.

Reminds me of Sanguinetti, where the equation was: The less you saw Sanguinetti play, and the more your knowledge of his game was from scouting reports and people online, the higher his ceiling and NHL readiness was. I really REALLY hope this isn't the case with Kreider.

If he truly is going to need Torts to whip him into shape, a late season call-up is going to do more harm than good.

The Rangers will not use a year of his ELC on 10 games plus the playoffs. Especially not with the way this team has been playing and its chemistry.

Hasn't anyone seen Miracle!?!
