and from what I understand in the article, he wants to have a chance to make the Hawks and he already said it to their GM - he hopes that he stays and the GM also said that he plays good with consitency.
He's been solid on a bad team. A real dark horse to make our bottom pairing next season if he comes over. He's similar to Hammer but not as good a skater.

Unfortunately, that's more of a statement on Salak than Hutton

How? Having 4 AHL level tenders at worst is a thing every good franchise does. He's an upgrade over Richards.

I'd be very surprised if this deal is anything more than that.

AFAIK, he's not. Players need to clear waivers if they're signed past a certain date.

McKenzie said Hutton is on waivers, but I don't see anyone else reporting it.

Which really says all you need to know about the Hawks beat writers.

As for Dahlbeck, highly doubt he makes the team.

Highly doubt it. He has to go through waivers because he just signed a contract.

It doesn't mean he's coming to the Hawks, it just means he's on the waiver wire.

Once he clears waivers, he'll get re-assigned to Rockford.

Jeremy Morin: What's the story? I know he had concussion problems and didn't exactly rock the world any of the times he's been briefly called up, but what's holding him back? How much more time does he need? Does he translate into a 2013/2014 piece of the puzzle or sooner?

Kyle Beach: I've always regarded Beach as a "crap or get off the pot" prospect who seems to be forever mired in the AHL. I'd just like some thoughts as to if he has any future beyond his current existence.

Brandon Saad: He's been the hot story, but where does he project next year? Does his year in the juniors merit banking on him to be a 3rd/4th line impact guy?

Mark McNeill: How's he been doing? I haven't heard much at all about him. Has there been a good/bad on him yet or is he just staying under the radar?
I will comment on two guys that I like the most; Saad and McNeil.

Brandon Saad is our best prospect right now, simple as that. He is probably in the top 20 of the entire NHL when it comes to prospects. This kid is just destroying the OHL, that he is on the same ppg clip as future #1 overall pick Nail Yakupov. If you dont understand how real deal that is, then I dont know what to tell you. Every game I have seen him (outside of the WJC) the kid just controls the ice which is amazing for a power winger. He is just noticeable in everything he does, he is exactly what the Hawks need on the wing.

The issues with Saad last year are long gone. People talked about his character and heart, and though I chimed in a bit , I never believed in any of that. He had a groin issue that really changed his game last year, and low and behold it has been healed for some time and now we see the results.

The words "steal of the draft" gets thrown around a ton, but if this kid isnt the steal of the 2011 draft, not sure what is. He will be in the NHL next year, zero doubts about it. He is 6'2 200lbs plus and can score with the best of them. Put him alongside Kane and be done with it. He is bluechip folks.

Mark McNeil is my other favorite. He is what we need. Though he isnt tearing up the WHL, he is doing just fine at above a ppg clip. He isnt going to be a 30 plus scorer at the NHL level most years, but what he can bring to the table is exactly what we lack down the middle: size, grit, and two way play. This is the kid I want to see as our 4th line center next year. Ease him in to that role and let him blossom. Imagine a 4th line of J. Hayes - McNeil - Beach ???? holy ****!

I like what I have seen from Mark this year, and his maturation is showing. He has to continually work harder on using his body to his advantage, but that will come with time. This is a Paul Gaustad type of player that can fill so many roles for a team. I pray we hold onto this kid and not trade him for some overpriced rental.

I love Morin and Beach as NHLers as well. They will have long looks to be NHLers next year wherever that may be. I just like McNeil and Saad better right now for the pieces that they can fill in for us. Morin needs to be a top 6 player to be effective. The kid works his ass off, but he is a scorer and not a grinder...just cant see a spot for him with who we have ahead of him right now...and that includes Saad who has jumped past him on the chart imo.

Hawks have some solid highend kids coming down the road soon, and if we dont trade our pick away this year it just gets even deeper.

Hutton did sign a 2-way contract apparently. He was on an AHL-only contract before. There are a lot of reasons this could happen, but being so close to the trade deadline is at least interesting.

Hutton is not NHL back-up material, imo. I'd rather stick with Razor.

He's AHL fodder. The guy just started to stick in the AHL in his mid to late twenties.

Hutton sounds like the guy who would sit on the bench if one of our goalies got the flu.

#Blackhawks officially sign goaltender Carter Hutton to one-year contract and assigned him to American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Wait, so he's not replacing Emery?
