Blame Fugu if anything. If she had laughed when I casually inquired about it, I would have run back here crying and mumbling something about "ruing the day"

My favorite war-time movie is Stalag 17. It isn't violent by any means, but I like the POW perspective. I am quite partial to the Dirty Dozen as well.

So you're more of a stabby, infested wounds and slow-death gut pokes kind of guy. How barbaric

Platoon is also garbage, I prefer Tropic Thunder over it. At least they're honest about exploitation.

Best war movies

Come and See, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket.
Apocalypse Now is a great film, but it's not really the same kind of film as we are talking about, it's almost a psychological study. Still, it's a great movie, no doubt. Full Metal Jacket should have been on my list too.

Tropic Thunder?

It's just longer, there are some added scenes (Like the dinner with the French people).

Great movies as well, although I'm not a huge fan of Ridley Scott's jerky slo-mo that he uses so much.

I love all kinds of war movies though.. I even watched Enemy at the Gates..

Independence Day is my favorite war movie.

what?

Also, **** you iTunes. I finally caved and bought an iPod (I don't want an iPhone, before someone brings that up) but now trying to transfer my music to the iTunes library and all my albums that have multiple artists are split into tons of smaller album fragments because the files aren't tagged properly.

Now I have to go through everything and manually re-tag it all so that it fits together the way it's supposed to. :

I love Bridge On the River Kwai and The Great Escape.

Classics.

ETA: And The Dirty Dozen.

Has anyone else noticed Niemi sucking in NHL 12 recently? I swear to God the latest roster update has made him suck so badly. He's letting in softies all over the place!

He just let in a shot off the *opening* face off from *outside* the zone

I agree about Band of Brothers being great. I took some time and put together a big list for people who are interested in some good movies. Not all are traditional war movies but all deal with the subject.

Good war movies-

Soldier of Orange
Ashes and Diamonds- Post war movie
Army of Shadows
Paths of Glory
The Big Red One
Gallipoli
Duck, You Sucker!
Das Boot
Dirty Dozen
Ivan's Childhood
The Conformist
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Grave of the Fireflies
Bridge On The River Kwai
Lawrence of Arabia
Zulu

I don't watch War movies very often, but some I like include:

Full Metal Jacket
The Boys in Company C
Saving Private Ryan
Enemy at the Gates
Forest Gump (I guess)
Tae Guk Gi (Korean. Subs included)
Beyond Enemy Lines (Finnish, had to watch with subtitles in history class)
