Comic Book Men (Kevin Smith, Tell 'Em Steve-Dave!)

Anyone catch this tonight? I just downloaded it and about to watch the first episode. If you're a fan of any of the Kevin Smith podcasts/SModcasts, you've likely heard of Walt, Bry and Ming... well, now they have their own show.

it's a lot like Pawn Stars, but with people on it who aren't **********. I like it.

Didn't watch it, but will this have a wider audience other then the comic book community and/or Kevin Smith fans?

Probably not. Although it did have it's share of wierdos that came into the store which were good for a laugh.

Figured I'd give it one episode since I didn't know what to expect. That was enough.

Bryan Johnson? A little bit, but he's got such wonderful stories.

He's also the guy that Kevin Smith protested Dogma with.

I liked it. Never seen Pawn Stars, I watched this because I like Kevin Smith and listen to Smodcast and Hollywood Babble On.

Not sure if it will last. AMC is a bizarre place for a reality show, and the typical Smith fan might think it's too PG13 for them.

The goings on in a comic book store, finding rare comics, dealing with superfans, etc.

I like it much more then pawn stars, but that could be the inner nerd in myself coming out.

Ah okay. I suppose it depends on the locale of the comic shop. One I hang out at is mostly MTG players.

I thought I'd like it, but the comics and action figures that were brought in just didn't appeal to me, get some sweet 80's toys and I'll start feeling nostalgic.

Wow. Somewhere at FOX, there's a guy who was saying: "Simpsons spinoff with the comic book guy! It'll work! Ratings gold!" That's honestly the impression I got.

Stupid AMC for putting Walking Dead teasers in the show...

I used to love Pawn Stars but all 4 of them are douches. Especially Rick and Hoss... Even Chumlee has let fame go to his head, now he's a fat rich ****** only rich because he is a fat idiot.

Just recently started watching this show, didn't think I'd like it, but I've really enjoyed what I've seen thus far.

Pretty lame, honestly.
A self-proclaimed "Pawn-Stars for geeks.", which is probably why I don't like it.
They pass off the "unscripted" angle equally horribly.
The act they put on for the show pretty much forces them to come off as terrible at sales.
They have to pump up items to make it seem like a big deal, so when something good comes in the door and the guy behind the counter becomes visibly excited, it just kills the whole bit.
That's just terrible salesmanship.
