Well I was kind of anxious to see some action from Wishart, I want us to try to give him a shot, after all he's a mid first round pick so I still think he can develop into something decent. If this means a trade, then that's fine with me
Forgot where I read it, was on here, but it said a couple of teams were interested in him.
Eaton's not bad though. Solid dman. But he doesn't belong on this team.
Eaton has playoff pedigree as well. When he won the Cup in 2009, he even chipped in offensively with 4 goals during the run.
All things considered, he wouldn't be a bad depth-pick up for a team looking to contend. Especially not considering how few players that might be on the market. At this point, every team but Carolina, Anaheim, Edmonton, and Columbus might consider themselves to be in the playoff picture. Among those four teams, the only upcoming (D-) UFA's are: Sheldon Brookbank (Ana), Radek Martinek (!) and Brett Lebda (Col), Jaroslav Spacek and Bryan Allen (Car).
There is no way we would be trading any Defensemen this year. We are already short staffed, especially those with any sort of NHL experience. Injuries are preventing us from unloading any D at this time.
I think the Islanders may be giving some of their prospects the taste of an NHL game, so they know what to expect. You can't create that type of game situation in practice. Rakshani had his taste.
I would like to see Ullstrom brought back up, permanently. Sit Rolston, please!
The playoffs are probably out, I wouldn't mind if some of the kids got a taste of the NHL also. We've seen Wishart before, this is probably his last chance to make an impression with the Isles. A kid with that type of size and a fairly good skater, if only he had some meanness to his game.
It's too bad CDH is injured because I would love to get an extended look, he did look good in that one game earlier. Donovan may get a shot before the season is over as well.
If Wishart has been called up despite his somewhat poor season in Bridgeport and the fact that he could be picked off of waivers, it can only mean that
A) He's being given a final chance so that the team can decide whether they let him go after the season
B) He's actually gonna be showcased to a degree
C) Another Dman, namely Eaton, is soon going to be moved
D) They know some guys are hurting and simply need some rest
The reason is prolly a bit of all of these suggestions.
This all said, have we heard anything on how close either Mottau or Hamonic are to being ready?
