I'll take the under.

Next five games: Panthers, Lightnings, Canes, Sens, Canadiens. 4 of those 5 teams have good reasons to target him.

I just have a weird feeling they are going to make a serious play for Carter. My weird feelings never turn out to be correct but if they do, I don't know how to feel about that.

Most likely down another ~5%.

They really need to get their act together on the road to have a chance.

Depending on the cost, I'm all for Carter. Not a GMGM-like move though.

4. Apparently, no GM is burning up the phone lines more than George McPhee. The Capitals face Canadian-franchise-level pressure to succeed.

Unfortunately, it takes two to make a trade; three if one of them is McPhee.

Incarcerated Bob is a hack. About as credible as citing Yahoo! Answers for a thesis paper.

The last thing this team needs is Carter.

Until I find a single person other than Bob on twitter that can make a single accurate prediction before anyone else, I don't mind his tweets.

GMGM is in trouble. I think he knows it. Lets see what transpires. Ted will of course publicly back the man, but if we miss the playoffs, I cant see how either George and Dale stay with the program.

Ted will hire a new GM....new GM will hire a new coach....new coach will want new players.

Say good bye to Semin, Wideman, Knuble, Schultz, Ward, Hamrlik....and possibly Laich, MaJo, etc.

New focus, for sure.

Yeah, probably not. Nothing a good heavy spin won't obscure. Only a drastic decline in STH will spark any sort of change.

I dunno. Maybe you are right. I think Ted is starting to feel some pressure as the media et al are certainly focusing on the disparities of the program. He cant hide behind the Wizards either, so.....pressure is mounting, IMO.

i have to believe that, at this point, even making the playoffs wont ensure makfi is "safe". teddy has been witness to multiple post season collapses and atrocities, of the "generational team" makfi has built, another crash and burn cannot go unnoticed.

imo, in order for makfi to get off the hot seat they have to make the playoffs, win at least one round ( somewhat convincingly ), then either win the 2nd round, or go down fighting to the end.

We saw HOW exactly it could be done even this season.
I think Green has showed that he would like to play earlier than he is 100%. And club wasn't argued against it in some past precedents.

It's in your "over/under 5 games" man.

Hockey insider rumor on twitter .......I know I know.....but here it is anyway,

Neuvy, Carlson Caps 1st and Avs 2nd for Nash....

Aside from the obvious cap space...does anyone pull the trigger on this?

I think I would

No because of Nash's contract.

Unless Rick Nash can play Center and get a new contract that's dumb and also i don't think we have the Avs 2nd so that's also dumb and how could you possibly think that would be enough for Nash and why would you want Nash on this team when we don't need a left wing and also Parise is UFA and better...seriously?

Backstrom + Ovechkin + Nash + Possibly Green = over 20, maybe 25mil on 4 players.
Plus, i prefer Parise, and if he falls to free agency....

Uh, yeah, I might.

I don't really want to see Carlson go, but you have to give to get.

I wish you could see something around Neuvirth, Eakin, 1st, contract (Chimera/Schultz) instead, but if that was what it took, I might do it.

The problem is, I rather do it in the offseason. Rather wait to see how Parise/Suter/Semin shake out before I made that trade.

At the draft, you can get a similar deal. Though, maybe you have to pull the trigger before since the Rags/others will be in on him.
