I'll be honest when I say this crossed my mind. But, I don't want to think about that.

This is NOT the trade with Anaheim I was hoping the Jets would be making as the deadline approaches...

QFT, maybe the GM's are learning how to work together in order to get that trade done...

Good move. I didn't see Riley making the call over Cormier or Maxwell any time soon. With Macenauer, we have someone with NHL experience that can step in a checking/energy line roll.

LOL at all the responses suggesting Jets won the trade.
The Jets are not going to win this trade if the guy never plays for the NHL team.
It's just Chevy shuffling minor league players again.

I really wish he and the rest of the fans on this board would really stop worrying about improving the AHL team and do something with the NHL team.

He could end up being a pawn in another, larger trade. These type of trades aren't "useless", even if the player in question never plays with the NHL team.

Also: if you improve your AHL depth, does that not help the parent team? Injuries happen, no?

It's about the whole organization.

Teams like Detroit are always good because they are organizationally sound: from the scouts to their minor system all the way up to the NHL.

I appreciate your exasperation, being an Atlanta fan, but this organization had to rebuild their entire system and continue to do so. Having a strong farm team to teach your prospects is critical.

Bingo. We're building a credible organization from the ground up, and though we have plenty of solid NHL pieces already on the roster, the truth is that the system's cupboards were extremely empty and thin, little moves like this add up.

I'm still not worried, management will make moves for the NHL club.

Just stepped out of the shower,
feeling as fresh as a flower.

Thought I'd read Jets news,
for half an hour,
I see the Jets just traded
for Macenauer.

Now Max isn't huge
def not as tall as a tower
so Chevy prolly did it
to give the farm club more power

Isn't Macenauer closer to Glass? He's also UFA.

Anyone else feel a little like TN and the organization is still kinda stuck in the minor league mentality? Kinda like we'll try and improve our AHL squad the best we can and our NHL team is now like another "AHL squad" due to the fact we were given the players by Atlanta and now we have to work with what we were given. But then Chevy is hesitating to put his stamp on the NHL club because we're still feeling like the AHL management...

Honestly, no, I don't feel like that in the slightest. But I also don't think Chevy is "hesitating" to develop the NHL product.

Nope. I feel like thats a very over simplistic view.

name another team that, in the past 1-2 months, have made a significant deal for NHL talent.

That what you get when you hire a minor league GM.

Or maybe someone has forgot to inform True North that they are now overseeing an NHL franchise. Did someone forget to send them that memo?

New Jersey traded for Alexei Ponikarovsky.

He may only be a 3rd liner but he has improved that team.

I consider the GM to be up and coming. He was hired by a 1st class organization that hires 1st class individuals. These small trades pave the way for a good working relationship with other GM's.

I like depth in the organization and this was a good trade.

I was about to make a sarcastic post asking whether Cheveldayoff was aware that he's managing an NHL franchise, but your serious/un-serious remarks seem to have had the same effect.

What NHL players are available/have been moved that we can get? and who do we give up? I second/third/fourth the motion that TN is doing whats best building a sound organization though ALL aspects. Don't sell the farm because some impatient fans want major moves now.

Lol. Look at Mr. GM over here. It was fairly clear that TNSE said they wanted to assess the team for 1 year before making any major moves. Why can't people wrap their heads around that. You don't think the first thing other GM's were doing when he got put in place was trying to underbuy from him? This happens lots of times with new GMs walking into a new organization.. take a look at the Oilers and Tambellini in 08-09
