I'm curious to learn which GM complained that the Devils are allowed to spend while getting cash advanced from the league. $100 says it was Sather.

This was my first thought too. I'm surprised they were able to call him up without making another roster move. Did they put Larsson on IR retroactively?

I hope not - I think he's got so much high end remaining it's not funny.
No, I think Lou will keep all the centres, or at least he should. They are all insurance for each other. We don't know if Patty is reaching the end of the line, we don't know if Henrique is just a flash in the pan, we don't know if Zajac will be lamed up for the rest of his career or stay once he hits UFA, and we don't know if Yayo is too injury prone to be a reliable top 6 centre. Keep them all so we aren't suddenly stuck without any centre depth next season.
what if the deal they are discussing is zajac (I know he's injured) + someone like teddy for carter and something like moore?
it's a stretch but it feels like we're going to get a arnott/niewendyk type deal.
Columbus would be crazy to take that deal. Moore is a big piece of their future, and selling so quickly on Carter would be insane. But nobody said Howson is a good GM.

Ya, I hope not. He was decent here, but he isn't really an upgrade over anybody on the team except Foster and Tao, and once Tallinder and Larsson get back from injury, there's no spot available.

No to Hemsky or Semin. The only way we need a forward is if Zajac has a setback. I certainly don't see anyone out there who is worth giving up a 1st rounder for. Visnovsky maybe, but not much more than that.
oduya is only an upgrade over foster. still, i could care less.
And, really, Oduya is only an upgrade over Foster if Foster is being used as the #6. As the #7, I'd rather have Foster for his shot and just use him sparingly.
whats up with the oduya hate? getting him would be an immediate upgrade. I could se ehim being paired with Salvador and being very effective at both ends of the ice. he wouldn’t fix all of our problems, but he would help. I always liked the guy

I guess people forgot about the $3.5 million contract already (and he's signed through next year too) I hate to sound like DATW, but the last thing in the world we need is another streaky-mediocre d-man making upwards of $3 million plus. Especially since we're poor

pretty much yeah. so a not so lateral, lateral move. sounds like a lou move.
