What about Vancouver's back up situation? Is Eddie Lack really ready for the call up? And that would leave Toronto with Schneider, Reimer and Gustavvson. Gusty could be a healthy scratch and then walk at the end of the season, but does Reimer have any value in Vancouver? Schenn + Reimer + Aulie for Schneider and a first?

I think Schneider has a little more value than Schenn but seeing as it was proposed by a Van fan it is a fair deal.

Toronto adds Gustavsson, Vancouver adds a 4th round pick.

Solid trade.

Thats probably pillaging TO's defensive depth.

Phaneuf - Gunnarson
Gardiner - Komisarek
Liles - Franson
Holzer

Our D tend to get injured pretty often, and Burke loves having defensive depth.

Why would Toronto be interested in moving Jonas for a 4th?

I would be very okay with this. A backup can be acquired in a separate deal, probably for a pick.

Either of Toronto's goalies would have better #'s and record playing on a contending team like Vancouver.

Schneider could look just like Gus/Reimer with Toronto's open brand of hockey. If Toronto is trading Schenn, they are doing it looking for a forward- preferably a center- with size.

This doesn't really help Toronto all that much, so I don't see Burke doing that. He seems able to just convince goalies to sign here anyway- he's not going to trade one of his biggest chips for another goalie.

It's not, it's equalling (made up word) out the value.

We also have Percy and Blacker waiting in the wings, we could sub one of those two in Aulie's place?

If this was happening at the deadline, then I'd be looking for something more like

To Vancouver: Schenn, Gustavsson, and Toronto's 2nd round pick 2012
To Toronto: Ballard, Schneider, and Vancouver's 4th round pick 2012

Ballard would have to go for salary cap reasons and the Canucks get Gustavsson because we would be needing a backup goalie. (it would have to be Gustavsson, because Reimer would put us over the cap)

When?

Deadline? I say no!

Draft? Possibly, but I dont think Schenn on his own would be the best offer.

As good as Schneider may be. Not sure i want to move Schenn for him. Im not ready to give up on Reimer or Gustavsson just yet either.

This is a lateral move, it may make our goaltending better, but we are depleting assets on the backend, that could be key pieces in upgrading our forward group.

Don't you guys have a tones load of goalies...

I hear a lot about Luke Schenn but don't know much about him, so I'm not to sure how much he would help us.

But looks like the kids pretty big and young, maybe he'd look good with Edler.

As for the trade, I guess I'd do it.. but I still want to package either Ballard or Raymond to clear some cap and we would also probably need a new backup goalie cause don't think Lack or Climie are ready yet..

Counter proposal:

To Toronto

Cory Schneider
Keith Ballard (Or Raymond)

To Vancouver

Luke Schenn
Gustavsson
5th Round Pick

We get a backup for Luongo and a top 4 young defensemen.

Toronto gets a really good young goalie and either a high risk high reward defensemen or speedy left winger (Who can manage 50 points).

Even though I still have some faith in our goaltending, I just want to get the position filled with a legit starter and stop having to go through the pains of inconsistent goaltending.

I'd do it.

Toronto trading their best trading chip for what is essentially a redundant piece doesn't make much sense.

Only way Burke moves Schenn is in a deal for an impact forward.

Percy was just drafted and is years away from NHL ready, Blacker although wasn't drafted last year is barely making a splash in the AHL at the moment.

Brian Burke would most likely give his goalie depth a chance before trading for another goaltender.

Burke has the option to start either

James Reimer
Jonas Gustavsson
Ben Scrivens
Jussi Rynnas

The pressing need for the Leafs would be a physical top six forward, and this is most likely what Burke would be looking to upgrade.

This seems more like a last restore deal.
