That would be more of a move for Vermette.

From a value standpoint, it isn't. Pittsburgh isn't a good trading partner for us.

I disagree. If we have the opportunity to bring in a young top-pairing defenseman, he is available. Certainly though, it's not a situation where the best return is accepted. It's a situation where unless we get the pieces we're looking for, we hold onto him.

Recent reports from Porty is that he would be open to moving but isn't requesting a trade. Which means to me that it is a possibility

I think everyone is in play for the right price. If the CBJ are considering a nuclear option, everyone has to be in play. We will see in two weeks

Personally, I could care less WHO gets traded, I just want a winner. If trading Nash brings back the talent we need to put this team on solid footing, I am all for it. As I grow older, it is less about the name on the back of the jersey. I root for the crest on the front of the sweater.

If Nash goes to a contender, it will be interesting to see how he plays with something actually at stake.

I for one think he'll be rejuvenated and mostly awesome.

It does make sense to move Nash and focus a rebuild around Carter and Yakupov - much like Boston did when it dealt Thornton and focused a rebuild around Bergeron. Then you have your franchise center and a big time young winger, who is way cheaper than Nash.

Has any thought been given to us scouting Greiss and not Holtby? I've always liked Greiss.

That makes no sense. Why would he not be on the block now and then put on the block a day or two before the deadline? Wouldn't you think the more time you have to give teams to drive up the price the better? TSN with Mckenzie and Dreger are starting to really annoy me. They spew as much garbage as everyone else. He's either on the block or not, you don't put a player like Rick Nash on the block a day or two before the deadline. I have a feeling Nash is on the block, McGuire hinted at NY having interest in a guy like Nash on yesterday's broadcast, hint hint nudge nudge.

Fair point. I just think as experienced as Greiss is, and with the talent he has shown in small doses, he could be a great partner for Sanford in a platoon. It'd be a lot cheaper than most options in net too.

I don't understand why people think it's a big deal if Nash is still on Columbus for the All-star game next season. It's not as if they won't have the game there either way. If he's a Jacket, then so be it. If not, they move on. Sure, I get marketing, points with the media, and so on, but I feel a step towards contending outweighs the need to put on a "show" for one All-Star game.

i could see the panthers making a move for him. They can absorb his contract and would be a first line player we need moving forward.

The question is a matter of price.

I think most contenders wouldn't have the cap space for Nash since they wouldn't just be getting a rental but 6 more years at a $7.8M cap hit. Also note that for small market teams or those with ownership issues the contract was not front-loaded but back-loaded - his actual salary is higher than the cap hit in the remaining years.

I'd love to see Nash play with decent players and in the playoffs for a change but I honestly don't see it happening unless Columbus is willing to accept less than he's actually worth. I'm not familiar with everything Howson has done but I'd hope for BJ fans that he's smart enough to give this team another year. Selling off Nash and Carter would just ensure that more young players develop in an atmosphere of losing. Would it really be best for Yakupov, if they're lucky enough to get him, for him to come to a team with even less help than Nash ever had and to be made the sole focal point of the offense in his rookie season?

I think this trade makes sense for both teams, bot not sure how this would work cap wise

To Vancouver:

Nash

To Columbus:

Schneider
Hodgson
Booth

We have nothing good to offer. It would take Pacioretty even though he's outscoring Nash this season.

Id imagine Kulikov+First+Prospect (Not named Huberdeau or markstrom)

I dont know if panther fans would like parting ways with kulikov. But we might have enough defensive depth to absorb that loss.
