Agreed. If the move was something like Eaton + pick/prospect, I think the money could work out. The difference in salary the rest of this year isn't much, and the Isles have room to the floor for next season.

Ottawa would be a phenomenal fit for Zidlicky.

Points on the power play for Ottawa would be (ideal) Gonchar - Zidlicky.

Zidlicky thrives on having a primary point threat while he is the secondary threat. He will only shoot if he has a clear lane to the net. Paired with Gonchar, most PKers will gravitate towards him, leaving Zidlicky to either shoot or pass to a forward with a clearer lane.

This is what he did so effectively when he was paired with MAB here in Minnesota.

He would also be a fit with several other teams. The sad fact is, the Wild don't have a better threat on the power play point, or else Zidlicky wouldn't be nearly worthless for us.

It is what it is..

umm yeah we do its called not zidlicky, while he was out those 4 games we cored pp goals in 3 of them (only game we didn't was a 1-0 @ colorado) he came back no goals and very little powerplay threat.

he isn't helping our pp at all he is hurting it with his unwillingness to shoot.

Starting to think he might be perfect for us going forward. It might be the $$ he's owed though. IMO Melnyk isn't about to let Murray start spending wildly (ha) again until he's sure that we're in a position to succeed, ie go a round or two in the playoffs. When we're ready, Melnyk will spend, but I'm not sure now's the time he allows Murray to start signing/acquiring big-ish tickets.

Rain refusing to waive its no movement clause, staying in the sky for now. Vancouver has to look elsewhere for help on the moisture end.

boychuck just signed in Bos, the list of available Dman is getting thinner and thinner making Zidz a more desired commodity.

yes, he is that bad. there is almost no defenseman in the NHL that plays defense as poorly as Zidlicky, and offensively, he's far from what he use to be. he seems to be lost on most nights.

Kennedy + Martin for Setoguchi + Zidlicky

Salary swap is even. Heck, I'd even toss in the obligatory HFBoards 4th to be fair.

Don't know why, if the Wild are trying to get rid of Zidlicky, they'd be throwing Seto into the deal...

As for Zidlicky in general, not a big fan of moving him. It is what it is I guess, though. Just not working for him this year and as you can clearly see around the forum, the fans have focused their angst on him. Hell, even the coach and beat writers have done so.

I tend to think he'll be a player that ends up working out for well for whatever team trades for him.

I don't know why we'd want to trade Setoguchi, or what Kennedy would do for us.

[MOD EDIT]
The Wild have had a lack of young scoring top 6 players, while Seto's numbers this year may not be fantastic, I strongly believe that the organization sees him as an important piece for the future which is what the Wild are aiming for. While that deal may be even value wise if we were contending, Kennedy adds nothing for the future and Martin isn't exactly the type of D man I would want to build around at the expense of our young forward that hasn't even been on the team for a year.

Only if that obligatory 4th becomes the obligatory "steal of the draft."
