This thread is for drafting, and draft discussion. Any trade discussion (completed trades, players available, looking for picks, roster posts) are to be posted in the original thread, not in this one, to divide the confusion between picking and trading.
Start Date: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH, 2012
RULES:
1. 1 team per poster, and you must have 500 posts to your credibility, 300 if registered user. (**NOTE** If you can promise me that you will stay active throughout the entire duration of this draft, I will let you participate, but you will be on a shorter leash than other GM's, because usually some newer HF members tend to lose interest or disappear, we want to keep this to a minimum.)
2. Standard draft board, 7 rounds, 210 selections
3. Trading is ALLOWED, but it has to meet my expectation and two other GM's. If a manager feels a trade is either lopsided or unrealistic (Ex: Crosby, Neal and Malkin for first round picks), they can veto it, and a decision will be based on the overall feedback from the managers. We all want this to be a fun experience so everybody has a good time. These are always a blast and last somewhere from a month and a half to two months. So let's have some fun here guys.
4. We will be following a 12 hour clock, if you miss your turn you are skipped, you will be given an additional 12 hours to make that pick while the draft resumes. If you fail to make a selection in this time window, you will be assigned a consensus selection (best player available) by me or another GM, it will need to be confirmed by one other manager. If it is a recurring incident (without an excuse) I have no choice but to kick you from the draft. We want to keep this at a fast & fun pace so we all get our share of drafting.
5. Drafting from the 2012 Entry Draft Class (Yakupov, Grigorenko, etc.)
6. The order will be picked from the NHL standings to the night prior to start time, this means you have to consider potential movement up and down when dealing draft picks.
7. Any trades that happen in the NHL from now until the start date will NOT affect the draft board. What the draft board is at right now, is the one we follow. (i.e. Colorado's first round selection still belongs to Washington, but any trade that would happen over the next month would not change the draft board) But all trades as of February 6th, 2012 are taken into account.
8. You MUST notify the GM drafting after you via personal message, I cannot stress this enough. This is by far the most important process of the mock draft. We all have lives, so were not always looming the thread. Please try your very hardest to remember. And guys, even if your just dawdling around the board, feel free to drop the GM a notice. It's always appreciated so we can keep a healthy flow here. Try and acknowledge in your draft post that you have notified the next manager on the clock.
9. HAVE FUN! Nothing too serious, it's all for a good time, no one get too serious. For some information regarding draft prospects, Central Scouting Services (most reliable free rankings IMO) http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=610982 has recently posted their Mid-Season rankings, and you can check out a couple of mock drafts at http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=6...id=DL|NHL|home.
10. This isn't a GM game, it is a mock draft. So I won't be focusing on free agency, re-signings or buyouts. Just trading and drafting prospects, you are able to do as you wish (re-sign, etc.) but you won't need my clarification and such as it is not the point of this draft.
All the best guys, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to drop me a personal message or post on the thread, I'd be obliged to answer any of your questions, Thanks!

The Columbus Blue Jackets would like to thank everyone watching back home at the official draft party at the RBar. And would like to thank Mike for putting this together and being a great host.
With the 1st overall selection of selection of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets are pleased to select, right winger for the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League, Nail Yakupov.
the Hurricanes are pleased to select, from the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Centerman Mikhail Grigorenko
GM's comments: "we gave up a good bit to move up these two slots, but it's a move that made sense for us. Mikhail can come right in and compete next season for a top 6 roster spot, the one area we need the most help in. A core of Staal, Skinner, Grigorenko, Jokinen, Ruutu, and Sutter up front gives us a lot to work with going forward."
With the 5th pick overall the Buffalo Sabres select from Sarnia in the OHL Alex Galchenyuk.
We feel like Alex is the BPA at number 5 and are looking forward to have him playing with guys like Vanek and Pominville. We hope that his injury hasn't slowed him down and will we most certainly give him a shot next year at camp.

With the 6th overall selection in the NHL entry draft, the New York Islanders select, from the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League, defenseman Mathew Dumba.
There are two conditions for second round selections.
The Philadelphia Flyers can either take the Panthers' second in 2012 or second in 2013 as part of the Kris Versteeg deal.
The Washington Capitals can either take the Avalanches' second in 2012 (originally owned by Boston) or second in 2013 as part of the Semyon Varlamov deal.
I assume both managers will take the 2012 option, they have both been notified.
EDIT: The Washington Capitals' will decide before the 56th overall selection whether they will accept or decline the condition.
The Philadelphia Flyers will select at 50th overall, with the Panthers' pick.

The full draft board is now up! If there are any discrepancies, please acknowledge so on the thread and I will correct them accordingly.
San Jose has a compensatory pick in the second round, #55 due to not being able to sign Patrick White. Also, from what transaction did Anaheim get the Sharks 4th-rounder? I got the info from this site, they're usually accurate

From Wikipedia:
The San Jose Sharks' fourth-round pick will go to the Anaheim Ducks as the result of a trade on March 4, 2009 that sent Travis Moen and Kent Huskins to San Jose in exchange for Nick Bonino, Timo Pielmeier, a conditional pick in either 2009 or 2011 and this pick (being conditional at the time of the trade).[31] The condition – San Jose re-signs at least one of Moen or Huskins while Anaheim signs neither of the two players – was converted on July 9 and 10, 2009.
With the 10th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the Minnesota Wild is pleased and proud to select, from the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League, defenseman Morgan Rielly.
I thought that we had 12 hours, not including night? Doesn't matter, I will just select now. Sorry for the confusion.
The Winnipeg Jets are proud to select center Radek Faksa from the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL.
We actually will not be turning the draft clock overnight, but you will not be penalized (losing an hour off your clock) if your clock runs out during unreasonable hours.
