Junior didn't have enough time, but great win for Kenseth in a wild Daytona weekend.

Boring ending, and frankly the racing as a whole was too.

Junior ruined that one. I don't know what he was thinking. His only chance was to let Hamlin push him. Instead he played for second.

As a Smoke fan, I was hoping they'd get hooked up there and make a run to the front. But as usual with Tony and the 500, it just wasn't meant to be.

I had to work last night but did set the DVR to record the end of the race. I'm glad I set a time where I saw the finish because of that 2 hour delay they had. From yesterday to waiting for the darn thing to start, to tonight having to go to work, I chalked it up to, you know, this year it just isn't going to happen and I can't watch the race. Then I realized it did get the finish in there and I'm glad I got that at least. Still, so many bizarre things happened this weekend. Hopefully this isn't the new normal for Nascar.

They really need to work on the new super speedway setup. I don't think I can watch 3 more races of follow the leader. It was interesting, and extremely annoying, how the outside line could only come within 3 cars of the inside line the entire race. The most exciting pass was Hamlin pushing Truex Jr. for the halfway 200k payday.

Not much to say about Juan Pablo Montoya. He has wrecked every regular driver on the circuit, now he's gunning for the safety and cleanup vehicles. All kidding aside, I'm glad no one was seriously injured. If he somehow did not drop down off the banking, he could have been toast. Great job by NASCAR of not screwing up the cleanup of the incident, I was expecting a major fail.

I'm glad that racing is back, it gives me a good reason to drink a 6 pack and take a nap.

NASCAR is screwed no matter what they do. They went to the tandem racing and people complained they wanted pack racing back. Give them a year of pack racing and they'll be complaining they want the tandem racing back.

Daytona 500, that was entertainment... though it's sometimes hard to listen the commentators and the bugidi bugidi bugidi

Though the tv production with different camera angles etc. is high class in NASCAR and F1 should take some hints from there..like where camera stands still and cars pass it by and you can hear the motor sounds so well.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The crew chief for Jimmie Johnson has been suspended for six weeks and the team docked 25 points, leaving the five-time Sprint Cup champion in his deepest hole to start the season.

NASCAR handed down the penalty for Chad Knaus and the No. 48 team on Wednesday, two days after Johnson wrecked at the start of the second lap and finished 42nd in the Daytona 500.

Johnson is now last in the Sprint Cup standings, 70 points behind 500 winner Matt Kenseth.

Knaus also was fined $100,000 and car chief Ron Malec was suspended for six weeks. Both were placed on probation until May 9.

Hendrick Motorsports will appeal the penalties, allowing Johnson and Malec to remain with the team until that appeal is heard. Both will be at Phoenix this weekend.

Harsh penalty for Johnson. Already being 70 points back is a huge hole. But I'm sure he can rebound.

I for one am for the pack racing, but not the racing we saw on Monday night. I want the pack racing that broke lead change records and a driver could charge to the front from 15th in two laps. They've made the cars and tracks so safe that it shouldn't be a problem. Currently the cars are sticking together, but they get way to hot when anyone tries to push. Harvick said after the race on his in car radio that he felt "bogged" down on the outside line.

Yikes.

I'm sure he'll use his golden horseshoe to get out of that one.

Yeah, I'm a fan of the pack racing as well. I think they've got the right idea trying to bring it back, they just need to keep working on it. It was strange to see the outside line not able to make up any ground at all. I don't know what they'd have to do to change that.
