Im just showing people how he plays Im not even in the argument to draft him over others I dont care Ill be happy with any of Yakupov, grigorenko, forsberg, and Galchenyuk. The thing I want the most out of this years draft is another first around 18-20 and draft sebastian collberg saw him play really impressed me.

That's irrelevant really. Huberdeau will be an excellent player. After RNH, he was the best IMO. Landeskog is good in his own way but Huberdeau... when he moves the puck so swiftly, goes to the goal line, sees the open guy and pass it tape to tape... magic. There's a reason he was the Mem Cup and Q Playoffs MVP.

Anyway, back to the 2012 draft.....

He really impressed me 64gp 40pts and an amazing +22. I can say that I didnt expect that from him considering he didnt kill juniors.

That's why junior stats should be taken with a grain of salt. What's way more important is how a players game translates to pro hockey. It's for that exact reason that I expect Lukas Sutter to be drafted much earlier than where most lists have him. I would love the Habs to grab him with their first second round pick and I wouldn't be surprised if he's already gone by then.

Obviously, did I suggest he was?

I was fan of his before his draft. I would have drafted him first overall over RNH.

Why would Florida make the deal, unless there's something wrong with Huberdeau that only they know? IMO the Panthers will want to accelerate their rebuild if anything, not delay it by trading 19 year old for 18 year olds.

It's not irrelevant that he has a year over any player we have this season. He's a bit more experienced and has had more time to add to his frame.

I didn't mean it in a bad way, if that was your concern.

I feel he may be available by the time NSH pick rolls around (if it is around 50th) But, by our pick, very likely he's there and we should take him (or Frk if he isn't). And we could grab Matheson with the later 2nd and in the 3rd we should try and nab Jarrod Maidens (just so the Bell Centre DJ could play more Iron Maiden in warmups )

One thing about Landeskog's numbers in the OHL, a large % of his points with Kitchener were scored at even strength, which might be a better indicator of offense translating to the pros.

The consensus is that it's pretty top-heavy.

my recollection is that last year the consensus was that this would be a very strong draft year. I wonder if that's sort of the default for a draft until it actually approaches and scouts etc start to really focus on the prospects and then start to dial it back.

All I'm asking is Yakupov. Do whatever it takes to get him!

So I guess if Forsberg is the next Bure, then Aberg must be the second coming of Gretzky.

I'm not denying Forsberg is a good talent and he could be a 50-80 point Power Forward. But the kid has to score levels in the Allsvenskan league before you can say he's gonna be one of the best goal scorers in the NHL.
Meh....Oliver Ekman-Larsson was also not overwhelming offensively in a sub-SEL league but I bet a lot of hockey executives would take him over Hedman today if they did the 2009 draft over again. Forsberg has skill, size, good all-around game and intangibles. He's a safer pick than Grigorenko. We've seen other talented Russians like Zerdheev and Kabanov bust because of character issues. The Russian factor is indeed scary and Grigorenko is far from a Malkin type of talent. Don't know if he's worth the risk. On the other hand, Yakupov is worth the risk.

In a interview with Grant McCagg (Timmins said he was "not impressed" with Grigorenko, and I think that's about the extent of what he's either allowed to say, or would say anyways.) Pulled that out of another thread.

What? I wouldn't think any GM would even consider doing that.
