Great game by PAP and a solid performance from the Islanders. If only they'd had some secondary scoring they could've had this wrapped up much earlier.
I haven't seen reffing like that in a loooooong time. It is pretty damn embarrassing. PA looked great, really took the reigns this game. Bailey still looks good, making good plays and decisions. Loved Amacs passion tonight.
Call me crazy but I would like Bailey moved up to JTs line in place of KO for a bit.
I'd really love to see that PAP "dive" again. Antropov boarded him. i don't know WTF the refs were looking at.
It was a disgrace.
Embellishment? Whether or not a ref feels that way, when someone gets rammed at that rate from behind, it simply MUST end up in a PP situation for the victimized team.
In addition, Tavares is not getting the benefit of the doubt much anymore. He's got to start dishing off some passes more often because the refs simply aren't ready to give the team a PP every time he gets hauled down somewhere, in a legal manner or not.

I feel PAP has been our best overall player for the last little stretch.
I'd go so far as to say he probably has the quietest 51 points in hockey right now.
I'd be so curious to hear what kind of offers Snow is getting for him...
but even if you were right, a team should have a better record at home than they do on the road. any home team should have a better presence on the ice than the guest. look at the nhl standings. they say that exact thing. the isles, however, well...they march to the beat of a different drummer.
this is exhibit "a" as to why the isles are not a playoff team.
I agree a team should in theory be much better at home, but its not like the crowds at NVMC have been overflowing the turnstyles...or even been overwhelmingly Islanders fans. Most nights it seems 60/40 isles fans. The team doesn't have much home ice advantage, bc its more like a neutral site game. Add into that the fact the isles have been screwed hard in multiple home games(hamonic delay of game in ot, phantom elbow major, jt's "dive" against toronto, home & home against toronto) and its tough to win.
That said, I dunno if you spew out "this isn't a po team" as reverse psychology like I do when a Jets kicker lines up for a FG and say "he'll miss doug brien style" or you truly believe it...but this team is rolling and its rolling uphill

Tavares' game is exhausting. Those board battles, defensemen hitting him but moreso leaning on him, carrying the puck so much - that's tough to sustain through 82 games, especially at this stage of the season.
I think I want Parenteau back on JTs wing. PAP can carry the puck through the neutral zone and make a play. He was terrible last year, with all the turnovers and lost plays, but he's been MUCH better this year.
I'm tiring of Okposo on the top line. When KO is skating, digging and using his linemates, they can be incredible. But he seems to have Comeau-esque lapses of inconsistency in his game. I don't like that.
The team is playing really well defensively, getting great goal-tending and some timely goals. Maybe they are finally turning a corner. I love that they're close to 8th, I think it will do a lot for their confidence, as individuals and as a team.
Great win last night. These guys bounced back real well after they gave up the first goal of the game. Nabby again was great.
Just keep getting points. Just imagine if we had a real NHL defence and some secondary scoring.

I might get flamed for this, but would be worth a try to have Nino on the first line for one game.
I think we need PAP on the 2nd line, and with no true 2nd line center, it might be great to have Okposo center the 2nd line of PAP and the Invisible Austrian.
It cannot hurt for one game to have Nino on the first line, I just don't get him falling so much, he probably has weak core muscles since he is just a kid.

haha! perhaps i do! and for the record, i LOVE it when a jets kicker misses brien style!

I think he would be in way over his head on the first line. I think you're right about his weak core, despite his height/weight, he's just 19 and has some filling out to do, he needs to get stronger on his skates.
On Tavares' line, he'll need to be able to work the boards, cycle, sustain pressure and his game simply isn't there. I think Matt Martin would be a better fit.
Nino's got some talent and he seems to have improved his foot speed. He's moving his feet much better than earlier this year. He's still far too timid out there. He lacks confidence and strength on the puck and has zero ability to make plays on offense.
He needs to develop a lot and I suspect he needs this year in Portland and at least a full year of the AHL, probably two.
