If we continue playing like we are, first is a very reasonable position even with factors like the Bruins getting hot again and Philly getting hotter than they are.
I said 4th before the season. One I realized how special this team is, I've been thinking 2nd seed. But now first is quite possible, especially if we win our next two games and take a 9 point lead on the Bruins.

I was a bit less optimistic and said 5-7 prior to the season. At this point all bets are off...no reason we can't end up 1st overall.

Well, to be honest I said 4-6. I thought 4 was very possible though. I probably actually said 5
Amazing how we're doing this with Richards, Anisimov, Dubinsky, and Boyle having down years and also with a lot of key injuries. What an amazing ride it's been. 22 games over .500 is remarkable.
With the way we've played all year and the way we've handled top teams, I would be disappointed with anything other than the #1 seed. It's pivotal IMO for us to top Detroit for the Presidents trophy too. Detroit is going to be waiting for us in the finals if we make it that far and I do NOT want them to have home ice over us. Detroit is an auto win at home and "meh" on the road. I do think Hank could steal a game in Detroit regardless, but I'd still prefer to beat them out for home ice our way.
You can call that looking way too far ahead (or you can just call me Dolan ), but if the playoffs started today, that's the SCF I would bet money on, bias aside. I really expect NYR and Detroit to go down to the wire for the Presidents trophy.
That is better then the 2009 yankees who won 63.6%
Better then the canucks last year who won the president's trophy by a mile, and the 2009 capitals with ovechtrick in his prime, with 65.8%

By that win percentage, NYR is on pace for a league leading 116 points with Detroit behind by 5 for 111 points.

*knock on wood*
Its scary how good Detroit is at home. Only 2 regulation loses right now.
Quick question for anyone that may know. How come its says I cant vote in all of these poll? Do you need a certain number of posts or something?
Ask me a month ago and i'd say 2 seed. Now, I can support the 1 seed here. I would like to see a win tuesday vs Boston before i have a lot of confidence in it though.
Am I the only one who at this point in the season, being 1 point behind 1st in the NHL with 3 games in hand, would honestly be disappointed with anything other than the Presidents' Trophy?
Oh, and does anyone else just pull up the conference standings on NHL.com from time and time and just stare at them with happiness?
Yes. We have been waiting a long time for a team like this. Last time the Rangers were good I had just started college. I'm 35 now..you realize the rarity of these proceedings and I simply want to enjoy every minute of it.
I said 4-6 prior to the season. First is a distinct possibility...and it is the Rangers to lose.
